FreeOffice v.697

#1 Post by 8Geee »

Part of the eeePC spins I use/make personally includes this particular version of SoftMaker FreeOffice. This is older, part of the 2012 series (but late). With this full copy, and registration, one can have an Office Suite with a small footprint.

Trimming can be accomplished by

1.) Removiing language packs not needed
2.) Moving the English and German user manuals (large pdf files) off the install, and onto another partition or the HDD (SSD).

The effect is large. A single-language version with manuals removed saves nearly 50Mb from the iso. (Really). Today, this version is uploaded with md5/sha1 sums.

Single Language enUS/enUK available

#2 Post by 8Geee »

*** EDIT June 1, 2018 enUK added ***

I've decided to separate the experimental version of the Single Language FreeOffice v.697 and upload it for future reference/storage. As mentioned above, basically all that is done is trimming out the manuals and other language packs from within FO. In the Office download, extract it to /opt if available. Show the hidden files, and move the .softmaker directory to /root. Thats it. You can then drag the binary files for Planmaker, Textmaker, and Presentations in the hidden directory to desktop for quick access.

To save iso space, I recommend putting the pdf manuals outside the distro... they do not compress much at all.

The Office and manuals have separate D/L and sums as below;

FreeOffice v. 697 Full English SHA1sum = e06590aa8d1edad42580d3fb6c5c82551494e09f

The enUS manuals SHA1 sum = 3d2d986bafed8b20f07dc1917e2beb7434036cae

The downloads are here.
