I notice that if I login as root the menu action to covert a pet file to a stilatz package isn't there.

So I coppied the pet I built to:
Code:

/home/tux/Downloads

and will logout and login as tux to convert.

Have you tried double clicking on the pet package whilst logged in as root? It may offer converting to tazpkg.

I got the error
Code:

patch: "unregonized option '--verbose'

Command line: patch -p1 --verbose

Busybox ....

I recommend that we either create a wrapper script to ignore the verbose option or we install the full version of patch.

I installed patch form the package manager and it fixed the problem.

@s243a and @Terry you can convert any foreign packages in tazpup by double clicking it.

Tazusb is now modified to support puppy frugal for tazpup

As I noted in a previous post, if one installs the slacko 5.7.0 version of devX they need to do the following in the usr/bin directory to get perl to work
Code:

ln -s perl5.16.3 perl5
ln -s perl5 perl

this symbolic link also needs to be made

Code:

ln -s libgomp.so.1.0.0 libgomp.so.1

and here's another one. In /usr/lib
Code:

ln -s libssp.so.0 libssp.so

I think something like this might also be needed in /usr/include
Code:

ln -s gtk-3.0/gtk gtk
ln -s gtk-3.0/gdk gdk
ln -s glib-2.0 glib
ln -s glib-2.0/glib.h glib.h

Edit: The above linking worked except for symbolically linking glib.h. I see online suggestions of using pkg-config
Code:

gcc -o demo $(pkg-config --cflags glib-2.0 dbus-glib-1) demo.c $(pkg-config --libs glib-2.0 dbus-glib-1)

https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1882238&p=11464300#post11464300
https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/programming-9/error-in-include-glib-h-913972/#post4526267
but if I try it for glib
Code:

pkg-conf --cflags glib

I get:
Code:

sh: glib-config: command not found

Trying this to resolve the issue. Installed "pkg-config"
In /usr/lib/pkgconfig typed
Code:

ln -s glib-2.0.pc glib.pc

Edit That fixed the issue but for something I'm trying to install, I see I need gio-unix-2.0>-2.41.2, but this is newer then the version in the package manager. My short term fix will be to try disabling gtk3 when compiling avahi.

@mistfire, I'm working on suspend. Alpha 7 goes into sleep/suspend correctly and wakes correctly, no dmesg errors but on re-awaking, I'd like to shut down X and be at the taz login screen. Commands (not GUI) to try to do that? The process is enough different than pups run from root where a restartwm at most is needed (depending on WM) to get key/touchpad/flsynclient settings back so any suggestions would be welcome. I'm comfortable with the acpi setup in slitaz at this point.

hmmm..even the version of dexX from Slacko 5.7.0 might be too new. I'm getting this error:

Code:

/usr/bin/xgettext: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLOBC_2.15` not found (required by /usr/lib/libgettextlib-0.18.1.so)
/usr/bin/msgfmt: /lib/libc.so.6 version `GLIBC_2.15' not found (required by /usr/lib/libexttextlib-0.18.1.so

Ironically the package manager has a newer version of gettext. I suppose it must have been compiled against an older version of glibc.

Edit: installing gettext from the package manger fixed this issue. I also installed the perl version.

Maybe add
Code:

XKBOPTIONS="terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp"

to
Code:

 /etc/default/keyboard

https://askubuntu.com/questions/367983/how-do-i-enable-ctrl-alt-backspace-to-kill-the-x-server

My google search was:
Code:

x symbol mappings control-alt-backspace

Perhaps unrelated config stuff that I want to remember inputrc, and inittab. cntrlaltdel seems to be in the latter for tahrpup.

Thanks, inching closer to a clean wakeup.

Just made tazpkg of rcrsn51's Puppy Linux save foider back up tool.

Thank you rcrsn51 it works well if run as root in Tazpup. Rename without the .gz.

I noticed that the packages once installed are being stored in:
Code:

/var/cache/tazpkg/5.0/packages

I also see that one can find the file list for installed packages in
Code:

/var/lib/tazpkg/installed

this might be helpful info for someone.
