This is amazing. I installed LibreOffice 4.4.7 this morning using your utility and it worked perfect! Menu items present. File associations correct.

Thank you SO MUCH !!!

Running: Slacko Puppy v5.7.0 PAE

Could the script be extended to include pupmode5

Currently there is no case 5) code, pupmode 5 just drops through to the default *) case of - unable to do type response.

Having a additional dialog that asked for a ext2/3/4 work area to use for pupmode5 would be nice/useful.

.... Also - a 'bug'. If you try and download when a SFS is already loaded you get a warning message, that is locked. You have to restart X to be rid of the dialog.

Should you really have to uninstall to download a new version??

I'm a bit of a noobie as far as running this. I have just downloaded 5.0.4 after using PPM to delete my installation of LO4.3 using all the advice on this excellent thread. Everything went well well with the downloads and creation of a .sfs file, no error messages. Since finishing the download/installation I have restarted my machine but can't see any reference to libreoffice in any of the menus.

How do I go about running Libreoffice and setting up the icons on my desktop please?

I'm using Slacko 5.9.3 on a G56 HP Laptop.

couldn't get your version to work right, stemsee.

i commented out a few lines fromL18L's update, and it works as expected, at least for 64 bit (none of the scripts in this thread appear to be working for 32 bit at the moment regardless of indifference to load-state).

not sure if this warrants a version change, but here's get_libreoffice_30.4

Well, I am on 32bit and it works for me. When it shows a pop up box moaning about libreoffice already installed just close it and it continues.

I think the Fail to Download in red, above, is not a program issue but one from Libre's server. I was getting that with Mick0's when not choosing a stable version to download.

Anyway, Mick0's works fine. I just remarked the lines that ask if it's already installed. There's only about 5 lines that do it.

That's the plan... maybe even an (optional) default woof-CE package.

Everyone!

I know this will create an uproar, but the truth has to come out:

LibreOffice 5.4.1 DOES NOT import highly laid-out docx documents as well as
url]https://www.openoffice.org]Apache OpenOffice 4.1.3[/url]

I have both. When a client sent me this complex document last Monday,
importing it in LibreOffice 5.4.1 created a mess: the layout and pictures were all
over the page. It would have taken me an hour at least to make it readable in LO.

With the supposedly older and less perfect Apache OpenOffice 4.1.3, I had that
layout problem solved in about one minute.

Believe what you will.

It would be interesting to know if you also get the same problem with some of the earlier versions of LO?

get_libreoffice-0.43

#296 Post by rerwin »

When I tried get_libreoffice in xenialpup 7.5, it exited immediately. I found and fixed the problem, yielding the attached version, 0.42. I also prevented an initial nonsense version entry from appearing and added history entries for versions 0.40 and 0.41, making assumptions from the changes I saw.

As for previous versions, this one needs to be uploaded to pet_packages-noarch on ibiblio.

The failure was due to the use of "grep -w" with a directory name as the pattern -- /mnt/devsave. Since that is not a "word", because it contains nonalphanumeric characters, nothing is found. Apparently, that was acceptable in the past, but no longer.

UPDATE 5/20/18:
Because 0.42 fixed only for 64_bit puppies and lost 32_bit support, I replaced it with 0.43 for both architectures and also fixed the splash messages reporting download failures, to include the failing file name.

get_libreoffice-0.43 - for both 32- & 64-bit puppies

#298 Post by rerwin »

I have corrected get_libreoffice to restore 32-bit support. (See my message and attachment above.)

Peebee, please replace 0.42 with 0.43 in the noarch repo.

Get Libreoffice will no longer work for 32bit Puppies.

Libreoffice web site has stopped offering 32bit version newer than V6.2.8.2

Version 6.3.0 onward has no 32bit version.

Get Libreoffice looks on the main download web page for Libreoffice versions.
They are only 64bit versions.

V6.2.8.2 and older versions, that do have a 32bit, can be gotten from the Libreoffice archive repository.
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundat ... ffice/old/
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected
