Hello topaz.

It is possible.

There already exists variants of xenial 32 bits with different kernels.

Why the question? Do you have a particular need that needs to be met?

BFN.

I run a Linux self help group and some members have older PCs so changing kernal would be good. Also where are the 32 bit iso you mentioned.

Hello topaz.

Ubuntu's Xenial comes with kernel 4.4 and IIRC, our original XenialPup
came with kernel 4.9.

You'll find my xenial-7.0.6 32-bit, with kernel 4.1, here:
http://augras.eu/puppy_linux/?dir=mushe ... k41/distro
along with its devx development package and a template for a pupsave
file.

Some people seem to be quite satisfied with it, e.g. here:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 455#989067

I have been using it myself as my only OS since I published it last
October, and it's been serving me well in all situations. It is very stable.

IHTH.

On the desktop is Quickpet.
Quickpet>info>change kernel

The change kernel program can be used to change the kernel.

Read the help on how to use it.
The kernels button (bottom of change kernel window) will open a web page in the browser giving a list of kernel packages to use.
Download a kernel package.
Extract the contents to find the files needed for change kernel entry boxes.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
