PTM Timer 2.6 - mp3 alarm clock

#1 Post by don570 »

It should work on most Puppies.
32 bit and 64 bit distros can be used...
I highly recommend mpg123 or mpg321 be installed as well

PTM Timer
A simple countdown timer. (up to 30 hours)

EDIT: New feature in version 2.2 --> alarm clock - set one alarm and close window
Wake up in morning to sound of a mp3 file playing 8)

Multiple alarms are possible if you open and set the app multiple times.

Tested in Lucid 32 bit and Easy linux 64 bit so it should work
in new and old puppies. But I highly reccommend that you also install mpg123 or mpg321 app to play mp3 audio files.
If you are using pmusic to play mp3 files then you may have to
type 'killall ffmpeg' in terminal to stop the audio file from playing.

French,German and Spanish translations inside.
Works in most 32 bit or 64 bit puppy linux distros.
Tested in Slacko ,Lighthouse,Precise, tahr, Stretch, Easy.

Fatdog linux needs special version (ptmtimer-2.4-x86_64.txz)
because mpg123 has to be installed.
(I put it inside package)

Compatible with au,wav and mp3 sound files of any size.

It works best if pmusic or mpg123 or mpg321 is installed,
(to play the music in the background)
but it should sound an alarm even if these are not installed.

Make sure that sound level is appropriate.
If you are using a long mp3 music file to wake yourself in the morning,
then you will want to stop this music. So I put in an interrupt button,
that you click to stop the music.

New version 1.8

I added an Hours field to be filled in if you need this timer for a night's sleep.

Total time is Hours plus Minutes added together.
There is a maximum of 30 hours.

You can leave a field unfilled if you wish.

Version 2.5

Small change to log function

Just a reminder ---> If you are using pmusic to play mp3 files
then you type 'killall ffmpeg' in terminal to stop playing a long song.

That's why I prefer mpg123 or mpg321.
