Unable to change the wallpaper in XenialPup [Solved] |
|
I want to change the wallpaper in Xenialpup. When I use JWMDesk Manager, I can navigate to the directory that contains the images I want to use. But clicking on a filename just brings me to the file manager. Strange behavior. I can't set any wallpaper. Any help? Thanks, as always.

Version is 7.5, the latest. And yes, that's one of the directories I'm navigating to. I also have a separate directory of wallpapers I've tried to use. Trying to set the wallpaper from either directory gives the same result -- opening the file manager.

Fresh clean install of Xenialpup 7.5
Wallpaper-set desktop background program working OK for me.
Are you trying to use an old save from a previous version of Xenialpup?
Could just be a bad install of Xenialpup and or a bad download of the Xenialpup iso.
If installing to a fat32 or ntfs formatted drive that Windows has worked with.
Always defrag the drive using Windows defrag program before installing Puppy.

Revisiting. A clean install of Xenial 7.5, 64-bit. I pull up JWMDesk Manager, I get the usual list of backgrounds, I click on a background file, click on Apply, and all I get is the default file manager (xfe, on my system) display.
Any further thoughts on this? This is so mysterious, given the reports from other users here.

Update. I reset the default file manager to roxfiler, and now the JWMDesktop Manager works fine. How strange is that??? The developers may want to figure out why this is happening.

What was the default file manager set to when it was not working?
