Palemoon not working

#1 Post by LeithR »

I've just loaded Slacko6.9.6.7 onto my old DELL Inspiron6400. Initially Palemoon opened when I clicked on Browse. The next time I tried it it wasn't working and instead of palemoon it brought up a splash screen for Puppy Printing??.

Looked at the default Application Chooser which shows Autodetect but has an option to choose palemoon, choosing palemoon and clicking on apply it says it has worked but on reopening application chooser it has not worked.

Using Pfind and following the trail from root/.packages/builtin-files I find the following

/usr - nothing
/usr/bin - sim link to usr/lib/palemoon27.3.0/palemoon
/usr/lib - palemoon27.3.0 - there are numerous files under this entry
/usr/share - no entry
/usr/share/applications - palemoon.desktop
/usr/share/pixmap - palemoon.svg opens in LO

Other entry using Pfind take me to
root/.config/rox.sourceforge.net/OpenWith/Palemoon
There is a simlink entry to
---/usr/share/applications/palemoon.desktop

I've obviously inadvertently done something wrong, what can it be please?

Open with geany /usr/local/bin/defaultbrowser and change the content to:

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh
exec /usr/lib/palemoon27.3.0/palemoon "$@"
Save and now click on Browse icon on the desktop.

Thanks Watchdog, thats got default browser corrected but clicking on the browser icon or the palemoon cog in /usr/lib/palemoon27.3.0 does nothing. Still something missing.

I would suggest to run again your puppy in ram mode without savefile-savefolder and save a new one savefile-savefolder. Something is corrupt about the builtin palemoon. You can also try to install an updated palemoon but I would start with a new clean install. Take care to backup your savefile or savefolder before trying new softwares and customizations.

Many thanks W/dog. I think I'll start again.
