puppy-214-JP_beta01.iso released

#1 Post by nyu »

Hi ALL,

Just let you know I uploaded Japanese version 2.14 to the following site.
http://puppyfiles.org/isos/puppy-214-JP_beta01.iso
http://puppyfiles.org/isos/puppy-214-JP ... so.md5.txt

A Japanese user, Yaneda-san, made the desktop wall papaer. He used
Gimp to draw a traditional Japanese puppy (Inuhariko) at the center of the
wall paper. It is very nice. Other than that, I am using JMW instead of
XFCE because of the speed. I also added SCIM+Anthy as Japanese input
method.

Enjoy!
Nyu

I used your last Puppy in Japan recently.
A friend printed a few CDs with a cherry blossum pic that I downloaded.
I gave a few away at the hotels I stayed at and some to some other people
that I met.
Now why weren't you there at Akihabara handing out a copy of
your Puppy to the unfortunates who had just purchased Vista.
Please tell me the name of that big computer store there, I just cannot remember it?
Anyway your version came in very handy for internet banking, and gave those old hotel machines a bit of sparkle......regards Chris.

Hi Chris,

The world is getting smaller for sure. I am not Japanese nor living in Japan. I speak
the language and love to visit Japan once in a while. I hope people in Japan can
create a Puppy community based on this wonderful distribution. Thanks to Barry.

The big computer store you mentioned in Akihabara, I guess is "Yodobashi Camera".
It has more than 10 stories and sells various consumer electronics.

Thanks for your comments. Regards,
Nyu

Japanese Puppy with QEMU as Travel Companion?

#7 Post by Arol »

Hi,
I'm new to Puppy Linux (but used to other Linux distros.) My goal is to have an USB stick with browser, mail and skype for our next holiday. So the QEMU-Puppy version looks just perfect for this.
Now I want the same for my wife, but in Japanese. (So we don't have to worry if we will find a computer with Japanese already set up, or not.)

Did somebody already build a Japanse-QEMU-Puppy?

Otherwise I will try to create one.

Kind regards,
Andreas.

By the way, thanks Nyu for making a puppy for Japanese users and those of us who are (trying to) learn the language!~~ ^.^
