Welcome to Puppy Linux Shiba Inu 64 Bits

┌─[lun nov 13][root@shiba_Inu:~]

mpv: error while loading shared libraries: libavcodec.so.57: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

That would have been nice... if it worked as it should.. Only to help, i don't need mpv.. Brainstorming a litlle bit could not be bad.

MPV included by Radky beside Gnome mplayer in His stretched Puppy Linux.
i Like it when Puppies try to walk on the wild side. Dpup Stretch 7.5 CE (RC-2) Click the blue
I don't mean Mpv is better Gnome-mplayer, i mean testing different applications could not be bad..

Hello all.

If you are confused about mpv's keyboard commands, while it is
playing a movie or video, you can get a cheat sheet, here.

BFN.

mpv 0.14 installed from PPM for listening some house music with house Puppy musher fr
VLC was the default player. MPV just for curiosity, everything is hidden behind the screen, just need to type in terminal to get commands shortcuts. All linux newbies will be lost. And that is the fun !
Sure si vous ne parlez pas anglais, you will fail to enter ! no need of lonely people, French, Latinos, Asian in Puppy US Land*

* Use gnome-mplayer or VLC if you are lost with no Gui mpv. Of if you don't remember your English learn at school, when you were thirteen.
OR JUMP TO musher0 Puppy Fr (Utilisez la Puppy Francophone chez Musher0)

Well, I have to admit, this plays everything I've so far thrown at it.....including .ogv, .webm and .avi. Quite impressive, TBH.

I've got this running in Slacko 570 ATM. Which means it'll probably run in 560, too; no guarantees, of course, but I've found most 560/570 stuff is pretty much interchangeable. Same glibc, very close kernel releases (k3.10.5/k3.10.32).

And when I get around to it, I'll see how it runs in 571, and ETP's Chromebook Pup, which is based on the same.

I'm not too sure about 'drag-n-drop' only, but...hey; it works (and that's the main thing). I already had libva installed for something else, so I just dropped libvdpau in, and Bob's yr Uncle. Sorted.

Nice work, jilst. Cheers!

Well, boys'n'girls; I'm astonished at this thing.

I currently have this running in:-

Slacko 570
Slacko 560
Precise 571

ETP's 'Chromebook' Pup - based on Precise 571, w/Openbox
Upup 'Raring'
Xenialpup 7081
, and

(wait for it, wait for it...)

.....Racy 5.5. (Yippee!)

I felt sure as eggs are eggs that it'd fall flat on its face with Racy, but....no. I checked for the 'Slacko' deps (libva & libvdpau); they were already there (correct versions, too); installed the .pet, and.....it fired straight up. A-maz-ing.

The fact of having Battleshooter's 'glibc-2.20-upgrade'

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=806989

.....installed in Racy (for running the final 32-bit Linux Chrome) probably helped, since I'm certain jilst must have compiled against summat a wee bit newer than Racy's truly ancient 2.10.1.

--------------------------------------------

I know this is 'only' a player (and very minimalist at that).....but it's pretty versatile as to the number of Pups it'll run in. I also like the fact it's happy with an entire directory of audio tracks just 'dropped' onto it. Neat.

Mike's 'seal of approval' again!

Hi hamoudoudou !

Got the impression when using mplayer in Smplayer instead of mpv ......gives a better sound quality in combination with Smplayer`s Equalizer .
But maybe just my Imagination .
But no need to delete Mpv .
Regards !

mpv is launched with gtk youtube viewer in DebianDog Deepin. I don't know if included in other Dogs too. Nothing to add. It works for You Tube.
Just add Dogs in the title

You can use Shift+A to change the asprect ratio

Smile Thanks this works!

The contrast/brightness is not available and when changing the aspect ratio the controller gets bigger and half of it gets cut, is there a way to make it stick to the bottom of the video like in gnome media player and not keep it floated?

Nm above, I found a way. Smile

MPV player is just awesome, found a way to keep it windowed to half the screen size at start(can be dragged by the sides to make it any size and/or full screen), make the screensaver stop whilst watching the movie(couldn't achieve this in VLC) and force aspect ratio and also make the navigation bar stick to the bottom like in gnome media player.

Here's the mpv.conf file I use, it has to be put in /root/.config/mpv/

Code:
--geometry=50%x50%
--script-opts=osc-layout=bottombar
--video-aspect=16:11
--stop-screensaver=yes

The brightness and contrast depends on the graphic driver, I guess mine isn't yet supported. Also, I can't seem to find a way to control volume with mouse wheel instead of seek. Rolling Eyes

Found a way to make this work as well, just now:

Make input.conf file, put it same place as above and add this:

Code:
LEFT add chapter -1
RIGHT add chapter 1
UP add volume 2
DOWN add volume -2
MOUSE_BTN3 add volume 2
MOUSE_BTN4 add volume -2

One more thing I can't figure out is how to keep only one instance of it running. Mad

Hi Mike - how did you get it running in Slacko 5.6? Did you use the Precise package from first post or roll your own? Having libva errors here.
cheers!

@ GG :-

Look back at page 1, jlst's original post. There's a .pet supplied for the missing libva & libvdpau dependencies. Install that.....and you should be laughing. That was all that was needed to get it running in 560.
