Subject description: pet-noarch packages can't see their repositories

I can install pets from ubuntu-xenial-main, -multiverse and -universe but pet-noarch only points to a local folder. My internet connection is working. What am I missing?

Thanks guys!

I take it you've already tried doing a Update for your packagemanager. Making sure they are ticked on the right side before you run it.

Then have a look in /root/.packages/ (hidden directory so use the eye to see it) for a file called DISTRO_PET_REPOS.

if it's gone, that's your problem

if it's there look inside and see what it says. They should be listed at least once with acceptable url path.

It would be nice to know what puppy and version your working with buy the way if you need further help.

Puppy Package Manager>Configure>Update Database

Make sure the repositories you want are checked.
Select Update now

Hello minimalist.

If you are dissatisfied with the regular PPM, you can try mistfire's
outstanding CLI tool for this, called "Puppy-get". It's here.

But updating, etc., those steps remain the same.

IHTH.

You should report what distro you are using.

If using latest Quirky, this is a known bug. Should be a simple fix, but I have been distracted by other things lately (see my blog!)

Away from my development computer right now, but a quick thought. It does seem like something wrong with /root/.packages/DISTRO_PET_REPOS

You could try renaming to something else to hide it, and replace with this one (attached):
DISTRO_PET_REPOS.gz
Description  Remove the false .gz
gz

 Download
Filename  DISTRO_PET_REPOS.gz
Filesize  3.12 KB
Downloaded  160 Time(s)

about puppy-noarch it would be nice that Puppy Linux Updates versions of included software. (pMusic)
I remember having same problem with PPM in Xenialpup. Instead of trashing all PPM system for very few apps in noarch, try solutions given above .

About Dpup stretch, some puppies issued before final release of Stretch by Debian have an incomplete PPM, and update does not update. The solution is to change your Puppy to the last radky Dpup.
Concerned version (Stretch for Hungarians. Old Europe)

Sorry, should have mentioned this pertains to the latest Quirky Xerus 8.4 and Easy Xerus 8.4.

The replacement DISTRO_PET_REPOS file fixed this issue. In this file and the previous one in Quirky Xerus 8.3 the path to noarch is:

distro.ibiblio.org/quirky/quirky6/noarch/packages/Packages-pet-noarch-official

In Quirky Xerus 8.4 and Easy Xerus 8.4 it is:

distro.ibiblio.org/easyOS/noarch/packages/Packages-pet-noarch-official

I was unable to spot anything inconsistent or misspelled in the 8.4 DISTRO_PET_REPOS file.

Thank you!

I found the cause of the problem. Script /usr/local/petget/downloadpkgs.sh, thinking this is a build of Quirky, creens out URLs without "quirky" in them.

However, I am also now keeping PETs at "easyos" in ibiblio.org, as you noted.

I have fixed the script, so that the previous DISTRO_PET_REPOS file will now work (as well as the replacement one that I posted here).

Thanks for providing the feedback.

I will post a link to here from the Quirky Xerus 8.4.1 feedback thread:
