Puppy Lucid: chntpw package for puppy

#1 Post by Larry Cotton »

Hi

I have downloaded puppy Lucid 2.58 and wanted to install chntpw.

I configured the package manager to include the thee ubuntu repositories, then did a search for chnptw. It found the package and I tried to install it, but all of the listed mirror sites fail with a broken link.

I then downloaded the ubuntu package from here:
https://packages.ubuntu.com/trusty/admin/chntpw
clicked on the file where it asked if I wanted to install it, but the install failed.

Anyone know which chntpw I should be installing ? Or do I need to be using a later version of Puppy Lucid ?

More generally does anyone know where I should be obtaining ubuntu packages for this version of Puppy Lucid ?

I know it doesn't answer your question but could you use a bootdisk instead?

Yes indeed for the particular problem I have this bootdisk will probably also do the trick!

In theory PupRescue already has chnptw installed on it and I could use that - but am having issues with creating a bootable USB with v2.5 at least (my tool, Rufus does not like the iso). v2.3 looks like it might be ok.

Thank you for the link

Put a bootloader on your flash drive. Many puppy linux versions have an installer that does well. Perhaps use grub"4"dos. Mount the puprescue iso and place the relevant files inside on the flash drive. Direct the bootloader to load those files.
Win10 and lovin' it!
