mistfire, thanks for this set of packages.
I managed to pair my bluetooth speaker with the Xenial32 devx, bluez and bluez-tools loaded. DeaDBeeF was a little finicky until I made this asound.conf edit, then the connection went through. It's good because I've been struggling with this for a few days now until I decided to try with a clean save file, then low and behold, "sound!" Now, thanks to your time investment, I can get back to more favorable activities.

@Argolance
Network - Bluetooth can establish networking to other bluetooth device like LAN called Personal Area Network (PAN)
Serial - Serial communication via bluetooth. It is used for accessing the contents of an feature phone or smartphone. It is sometimes used to sync between pc and the phone

mistfire,
The routine is not the same running 32b Tahr 6.0.5.
Once I go to pair with my discovered device, I make the selection, then hit enter leaving the passkey blank. At this point it instantaneously goes to "Pairing... Done." and there is no conformation or connection.
My previous setup utilized bluez-simple-agent. Which binary of your package is trying to connect?

Okay. This pairs my device:
Code: | bt-audio -c <dev-mac-address> |
I'll invest some time and give it a closer look.

Many thanks for your answer.
"Nice" but actually not functional because moving from dialog to Xdialog is not an easy task (for me): I'm currently making some progress...
Cordialement.

Update: Running with an almost pristine save of Tahr_6.0.5/32b, mistfires`three packages go off without a fuss when loading audio into DeaDBeeF. There are however a few small details to sort before pairing becomes available. For anyone looking to test, step right up. The details aren't complicated, but they are essential.

What does "bring up" mean? Difficult to translate unless you know what this command consists of...
Thank you.
Cordialement.

I tested about 20 of them. Without success. |

Good question...

I'm running Slacko6.9.9.9 and would very much like to use Bluetooth when I watch movies. I've downloaded the above .pets etc... but when I try opening the bluetooth manager in Network (I do have the bluetooth entry in there)
I get a splashscreen with:
No bluetooth adapters found.
Switch ON the bluetooth adapter or plug it in. And an option to click OK.
Clicking OK does nothing.
I do not get the bluetooth icon in my bottom right menu bar.

Hello LeithR,
Which items were installed from page 1?
Does either "sdptool browse" or "hcitool scan" see your device?
Is the Bluetooth daemon running (htop, then F3 to search: bluetoothd)?
If those commands don't discover your device, post your "lsmod" output here and leave a link.

From the first post in this thread I downloaded and installed all of these:
- bluez (https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2FRkttfZuG0YzNWSVBhaDgwUzA)
- bluez-alsa (already included in the package)
- bluez-tools (https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2FRkttfZuG0Z0NpQlpXZTFBS1U)
- obexd
- a2dp-alsa by jamesbond (already included in the package, Source code: http://www.lightofdawn.org/wiki/wiki.cgi/files/a2dp-alsa-2016-01-02.tar.bz2)
I also downloaded pBluetooth-1.1.pet
The two commands you asked me to try gave the following results:
# sdptool browse
Inquiring ...
Inquiry failed
# hcitool scan
Device is not available: No such device

The opening post can be confusing for some: a2dp-alsa by jamesbond (already included in the package)
You're a victim.
If you were to extract the contents of mistfires`pBluetooth pet, you'd find "a2dp-alsa" packaged along with it.
No problem, but I'd probably remove it, then reinstall the pBluetooth pet.
You didn't comment whether bluetoothd was running, which would correspond with those commands failing.
And having looked at your lsmod it's obvious there aren't any bt modules loaded.
I'm also not sure these packages are suitable for Slacko. I'd need to test.
What kind of a bt transmitter is plugged into your computer?

It would appear that I'm on a hiding to nothing, I don't have a BT dongle fitted, didn't clearly understand that I required one. I'll cast about and see if I can get hold of one. Thanks

When shopping, make sure Linux is mentioned on the packaging. IOGear, Panda and TP-Link come to mind.
