The article linked below is the first I've heard of this new hybrid memory. I am not pleased to hear this from a security standpoint, since this memory is directly accessible to browsing and Puppy-type OS's. Used for storing databases... yummy.
The wikipedia article I read indicates this is resistive (bulk) change, not typical electron-based flow change. In other words, the material itself changes resistance regarless of e- flow. If current is constant (e- flow) and resistance changes (R) the voltage-drop through the gate is altered (delta V). V=R*A... holding A constant but varying R, leads to a variance of V. Evidently, an inexpensive material is found to produce the bulk Resistance delta.
