Which puppy for NAS server?

#1 Post by petropantero »

Sorry, I am new to puppy, so I leave my first question here. It might be the wrong place and I am still not sure if puppy is the right thing for my needs. Looking around around here I can't find the helping threat, there are to many and my try with help doesn't either succeed. So, here I am, maybe can someone point me to the appropriate threats or can give me some hints.

What I have is a HP Microserver N54L with 2 disks and with an internal usb-port.

What I like to do, is to install file server with LVM and share this with newest samba, guess it's Version 4 current.

Wishlist for my files server:
- To preserve stick I want to load Linux in ramdisk.
- Start in command line mode.
- Start samba automatically, persists config.
- Persists keyboard layout.
- Still maintained and able to update with current packages
- Boots in persistent mode.

Is this possible with puppy linux? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I have done this with Fatdog64. In my case I use Crypto_LUKS partitions, as well.
