'Quick cuts' for Retrovol.....

#1 Post by Mike Walsh »

Afternoon, everyone.

One very quick little 'how-to' for y'all today. For those of us running JWM as the window manager, I've made a (second) neat little discovery about the Retrovol volume control.

When I first started with Puppy, I used to click (to get the volume bar up), then I would use the cursor (left-click and hold) to move the 'level' up and down the bar to where I wanted it.

About 4 months ago, I discovered that you can place the cursor over the volume icon, click (to bring up the bar), followed by scrolling to move the level up & down.

Last night I discovered that you don't even need to bring the bar up! Just place the cursor over the volume icon, and simply scroll up or down. The level will rise (or fall) to where you want it.....and the 'tooltip' will tell you where the level is.

Handy.....or what? :D

This would be a good tips & tricks for the Puppy Newsletter.

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected

Mornin', bigpup.

Mm. Yep, I think you're right. As would, in all likelihood, this one which I've just posted about (and only discovered a few minutes ago!)

See what you think.

Hi Mike & bigpup,

Another tip in the same vein that I only discovered by accident last week.
For years I have been using the keyboard letter f to toggle between windowed & full-screen in both vlc & mpv.
A double left click of the rodent in the window also does that!   :D
