Try the driver here. It matches your device ID.

nick21,
You are new to Puppy, but we need your help.
Please do not post questions to a topic that has nothing to do with the Puppy you are using.
We the users of this forum need to help keep some order to it.
Post a new topic, about your question, in the Beginners section of the forum.
I will tell you this much.
For that hardware you really need to be using one of the newest Puppies.
I suggest Xenialpup 7.5 32bit or 64 bit.
http://puppylinux.com/
Xenialpup has drivers for that Nvidia hardware you can get and install from Quickpet program.

I have recently purchased a fenvi FV-N700 - dual band wifi dongle.
Hardinfo identifies it as 148f:3572
On Mon Dec 27, 2010 9:07 Tempestuous in this thread stated:
"rt3572sta for RT2870/RT35xx
Older RT2870 wifi devices will be supported either by the rt2800usb or rt2870sta opensource drivers already contained in Puppy.
The Tenda W541U V2.0, for example, is now supported by Puppy's rt2800usb driver.
But very recent RT2870 wifi devices will only be supported by the proprietary rt3572sta driver, now attached (my emphasis). This driver now supports the latest RT35xx wifi chips as well."
I cannot find the .pet anywhere.
For information I am running a frugal install of 5.2.8 kernel 2.6.33.2
I have:
/lib/modules/2.6.33.2/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/rt2x00/rt2800usb.ko
and
/lib/firmware/rt2870.bin
dmesg reports:
Code: | phy1 -> rt2800_init_eeprom: Error - Invalid RT chipset detected.
phy1 -> rt2x00lib_probe_dev: Error - Failed to allocate device. |
Ideas please.
EDIT: It seems the unit was faulty. I tried it in that other OS and the "New hardware found" message did not appear. I am in discussion with the seller.

Y'know, I really think it needs stating...
Puppy users (and indeed, Linux users in general) have got to get rid of the Windoze 'mind-set'. In Windoze, you buy whatever shiny gadget catches your eye, secure in the knowledge that the manufacturer/vendor/whatever will have provided a driver.
Despite newer & newer kernels supporting more & more hardware release by release, we're still not quite at that stage on this side of the fence. Not yet.....
Over here, you really need to do your research first. Check around to find out the hardware IDs and specs of whatever piece of hardware you want to buy, then check to see whether there's a driver for it. If necessary, try to stick with tried & tested chipsets, where the driver has been in the kernel for a long time.
(At t'other end of the scale, of course, the opposite problem exists. Hardware/chipsets that were supported by, say, the later 2-series kernels has often been dropped from newer kernels to make room for the drivers supporting newer hardware.....)
And of course, there's always the perennial 'kernel-driver-lag', as I call it; that period of a few months before you can be reasonably certain that brand-new hardware has had long enough for the necessary drivers to have been 'reverse-engineered' into the most recent kernels.
Just exercise some caution, boys & girls; do your research.....and use the old grey matter.
Mike.

@ Mercedes350se:-
Ya, I see what you mean. The text of tempestuous's post says the driver .pets are attached.....but they're not there. This means only one thing; that tempestuous himself removed them.
(I'm at a bit of a loss here. There's no mention of this card on WikiDevi.....and if you can't find something there, it generally doesn't exist. There's also no mention of it on Fenvi's own website, which leads me to believe it's a 'generic' item, supplied to many different firms, who simply stick their own badge on it.)
The way I see it, you've got two options:-
1.) You could PM tempestuous, ask him if he's still got a copy of it. He might still have it kicking around, and he may be prepared to let you have a copy. Or, there's a good chance he'll turn round and tell you that it's quite easy to compile it yourself.....I've noticed tempestuous much prefers to empower folks to do their own compiling. Which makes a lot of sense, TBH. Or:-
2.) Why not simply run a newer Puppy, with a more recent kernel.......where the required driver module is almost certainly built-in by now?
Mike.

I have been dragged kicking and screaming from 3.01 - my all time favourite puppy - through 4.3.1 - not bad and currently 5.2.8.
The reason I decided on this dongle was that it was supposed to work with the rt2800 driver - already in 5.2.8 - but it doesn't.
I decided to bite the bullet and try to compile my own. It all seemed to go well but, as yet, the replacement dongle has not arrived to confirm the driver compile.
