Puppy runs as root. You have read that such a thing is dangerous. Such a thing is to be avoided. Yes? Puppy runs as root. If you wish you can run as spot or create a user name (or run around telling everyone how Puppy is running as root)

One of my favorite things about Puppy is it has the passwd utility. You can set the root password between 5 and 8 characters. The next time you boot you won't be asked for the password, which is perfect because you don't have to remember what it was.
