Rainlendar lite is free. A pro version is available to be paid for. deb files for both architectures.

What developer says :
Rainlendar is a customizable calendar application which stays out of your way, but keeps all your important events and tasks always visible on your desktop.

Installation was a breeze (Mintpup). Dependencies were taken care by apt, no extra dependencies.

It takes place on the bottom tray, and you have full view of it clicking on the icon, with events and to do lists available, together with a calendar.

If you are in need of a calendar only, a cli command is just what you need : do cal in terminal, and the current month will show. Nice and easy. All months? do cal 2017. I frequently use both commands in Dog-based OS. Here for more options : https://www.computerhope.com/unix/ucal.htm
