Todd's Institutional Puplet (55.3 MB) - codename "TIP"

#1 Post by Todd »

My wife is a teacher. iPup and Litepup have both been attempts to customize Puppy for use in the classroom. With the release of BarelyPup, I fell in love. However, it needed just a little help. I added Firefox 2.0.0.1 and the ability to use dotpups. (Two very important additions, in my way of thinking.) I of coarse, gave some new backgrounds. They are all the same, just different colors. Rename the one you want to "default.jpg".

If you like this "build", download it. If you don't, that's okay too, 'cause "pakt" did all of the work, I just tweaked it.

You can download both the original "BarelyPup" and "TIP" here:

i like dsl, i'm pleased to see what they're doing, although i still think puppy is more fun than dsl. nice job, pakt, todd.

I just installed pakt's CUPS dotpup and it works like a charm. Now I have all I need for my wife's students. I have a full featured web browser and printing. I love it! Now all I need to do is install Java, Flash and Adobe Reader.

I just came across this thread.

Todd, I'm really pleased that you could use BarelyPup to make your custom Puppy. This is exactly what I made it for :D

Thanks for pointing that out. I've done a recursive grep in the unleashed packages for 2.13 and don't find that file. However, grep did return with this: 0pkgs_db-2.1.3/root0/.packages/unleashed/0rootfs_skeleton-2.1.3.files:pet2tgz
which tells me pet2tgz should be in 0rootfs_skeleton-2.1.3.files. It isn't there though :?

When I checked a 'standard' 2.13, I found pet2tgz in /usr/bin/ so I wonder if Barry added that manually to 2.13?
