There appears to be a bug in Easy Linux.

When I uncompress portable apps in /opt
I want to launch them from the start menu, but I find that I can not.
They don't show in start menu.
Crying or Very sad

I assume that the installer app is making a list somewhere,
and if the installer app isn't used then the start menu isn't updated.

Here's an example of a desktop file that won't update the start menu.

Code:
[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
#Encoding=UTF-8 #Encoding causes problems
Name=RedNotebook
GenericName=Journal
Comment=Daily journal with calendar, templates and keyword searching
Exec=/opt/rednotebook-1.14/rednotebookx
Icon=rednotebook.png
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=X-Personal-organizer
StartupNotify=true

Good news Laughing

I could make Red notebook portable journal work in Easy linux

Instructions:
There are two pet packages that need to be installed.
I got them from RU xerus

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=930564#930564

The installation is in /opt .
After the install an icon will appear on desktop.

Just what I've been looking for Don. Thanks for highlighting RedNotebook, until you posted I didn't even know of its existence. Just installed it from the Debian repo and it feels 'just right' (version 1.8.1, copyrighted 2008-2012, so a older version, but seems to work well enough for my needs).

I had been using osmo but never really got on that well with it. Then I moved over to Evolution ... but that's more heavyweight than what I need (caters for mail etc. ... which I do online). Rednotebook as a calender ... great/ideal for me. I now have it set so when I click the date/time in the panel - up it pops. Laughing Cool Thanks again.

To Rufwoof...

Can you use the start menu when you use a repository?
