How do I Disown the Wikka HD Install page?

When I was editing it yesterday, I clicked on 'Own this page', to see what it was, and now I own it.

It seems that owning a page on an open source community project, is sort of against the spirit of the thing.

Me too. I was up for quite a few hours too. I thought there were too many colours so I toned it down and added emphasis (bold) where appropriate.

I was thinking of adding another How-To below, that shows how to install over a partitioned Tindows XP install - but I don't know if there's enough difference to justify the bandwidth. Maybe just a few notes pointing out the differences.

Go to a page you own and click on Edit ACL (bottom of page)

Ownership is like a guardian or facilitator.
Most pages are open to edit - if we experienced any probs we can temporarily restrict writing to a page

A lot of pages are still open for ownership
I own loads of pages and I could put them back into public ownership I suppose. It is no big deal either way . . .

:)
Syntax:

* = Everyone
+ = Registered users
Or enter individual user WikiNames, one per line
--------------------------------------
Note: Any of these items can be negated with a !
!* = No one
!+ = Anonymous users
!JohnDoe = JohnDoe will be denied access.

Be aware that the ACLs are tested in the order specified.
So be sure to specify * on a separate line
after negating any users--not before.
Otherwise, the * everyone condition will always give access
before the list of users that should not have access is tested.

If people are free to edit the page, then I don't have a problem with owning it. I assumed ownership included exclusive editorial rights.

The one thing that I noticed is that some of the text is in camel case, so that if one clicks that name, then it creates a new page. An example (below Mechsus's examples) QtParted. Should I edit these so that they don't show as camel case? Or was this by design to add explanations of these programs later on?

If you are using camel case like so QtParted

but do NOT want it to be a link

then type it with two sets of quotation marks like so

Code: Select all

""QtParted""
Yep ownership is no big deal - the regulars keep an eye on new posts and comments - so any "manual spammers" can be removed - which I think has happened twice

On the previous wiki - we upgraded rather than deal with a series of spam attacks

From the front page of the wiki you will see the great use of HTML on the wiki (see featured page) that has been started

I very deliberately spent a lot of time and effort on this wiki and the previous wiki to familiarise myself with Linux and Puppy in particular . . .

Double clicking a page
going through that page and italicizing, embolding, indenting and checking for errors is a great way to learn . . .

Yes, I guess I should have been clearer. Do we want to change these? I was offering to do so, so readers would not see them as a link and click on them, creating a new page.

I assumed that this was not intentional, but if it was, I did not want to edit them.

You can certainly change them Danleff that would be great - and quite a task . . .

:) - you could check and trim whilst you were about it . . .
