Ok I grabbed the latest gtk2 24x24 icons and the latest Tango icons and removed all the system links, around 300 of them, nobody wants to look at 300 duplicates, lol Using 48x48 icons would be very large for 289 icons, Puppy isn't a full blown distro with unlimited size, we need to keep the eye on the ball, sure I could see some 48x48 icons like 20-30. But if we have a nice supply of 24x24 developers can use them etc. I have them located in /usr/local/lib/X11/mini-icons/

Ahem. Ttuuxxx?

They're ok, they fill a gap, but you could have gone one step further by
providing URLs. To here perhaps:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/openiconlibrary
Those are CC open standard icons.

If people have an URL to go to, they can help themselves to the icon(s)
they need.

I'm not sure your offering is the only solution.

I downloaded the new iso by ttuuxxx and did a manual frugal install to
the hard drive:

Well if we offered a url, You could have ten developers using the same GTK forward button and including it 10 times in the same distro with ten different names. Plus we need about 10-20 of them to start with. It only makes sense to use GTK2/Tango icons since most of puppy is GTK2, we really don't use KDE etc.

I had a look at all those icons in the link you provided, I would say I've seen 90% or so before, lol Man that's a massive collection brings back years, The debian 24x24 icon looked like the top was cut off, strange.
handy set to have around.

Xenial devx and kernel source sfs allows compiling proprietary nvidia
driver, once that is done unload Xenial devx and load Stretch devx.

Pretty cool desktop :), Is the reason why your using the Xenial devx and kernel source sfs because the default stretch version doesn't come with kernel sources? If so, I'm currently going to try that kernel I uploaded a week ago and see if I can get it running.

I tried using the kernel kit to compile a kernel but it's beyond me to get it to work.
If you could compile kernel-4.9.15 for Dpup Stretch that would be cool :)

The proprietary nvidia driver works well, nouveau is okay but I prefer the nvidia.

Ok guys you know the PNG errors we get in Xerrs.log and while compiling, Even slacko has this issue. Well I edited PNG and removed the 3 error checks which should stop the issues when compiling etc, I've read up on it and basically PNG doesn't care about this issue and they aren't going to fix it. Its to do with older naming in png files and actual colours used. The fix most people do is resample all PNG files using png16 using imagemagic well that is just crazy!!.
So basically what I would like is everyone to install these packages and monitor the xerrs and error messages when compiling and see if it works, I also patched it with Apng and it works when tested https://people-mozilla.org/~dolske/apng/demo.html

Just install the package(s)and exit X and xwin to restart

Ok guys I managed to get that new kernel I compiled 2 weeks ago to work :) Yessssssssss, Its the first time I managed to compile a kernel and actually get it working in a puppy version, I'm pretty excited, Now I'm going to add it to my main release and see if it works, If it works, I'll upload it and we'll move over to the new kernel and continue on.

Hey, ttuuxxx, color me stupid as a bad of rocks, which I am when it comes to this stuff, but I downloaded your 4.1.38 kernel (from smokey01 or wherever that link was, can't remember) about two weeks ago, and have been using it and putting it in every build I've done (along with making the devx, and been doing "ok" with it compiling quite a few things). What do you mean you "finally" got it just now to work? You mean it's different than the one I downloaded? Or are you saying that all---I mean ALL--little compiling issues we see are now a thing of the past? Sorry this sounds so stupid, but I am really struggling to learn some things here :oops:

Ok I'll be clearer, I've been compiling/ working with linux for about 11yrs give or take or take, I tried compiling a kernel about 10yrs ago a few times before woof ever happened, The old way, and well sadly I never got it working and at the time there wasn't much info going around, So then I got into compiling everything else under the moon, thousands of things and never looked back at compiling a kernel until I tried again but this using woofce, The One your using. I didn't have any time to test it since I was busy getting the Stretch release stable and two weeks pass by, Now that I got rid of 2 major errors, I figured it was time to dust off kernel I compiled and give it a shot. So now Once I build the next iso and if all things work fine, Then the third issue GlibC libM will be my next bug fix hopefully, GlibC is always a touchy thing. Then we should be able to compile just about anything including abiword.

Yes I know you do, But if I build a woofce release and we have 20 or so missing icons in the menus because svg icons were used its a pain to track down each and everyone and find something that works, I'm not talking about getting rid of them, but having some mini PNG icons that developers like you could use for the menu .desktop icons. Some svg icons work and some don't. Where 100% png icons works for menus.

Abiword now compiles for the first time since we started this Journey. This is Progress guys :). I don't know how many Hours I tried to compile Abiword on this and nothing, Now it compiles out of the box after installing Boost. I compiled static boost earlier on stretch.
Today is a good day on puppy :)
