PostPosted: Tue 17 Jan 2017, 06:33    Post subject:  How to uninstall a rpm package ?

Hi,

I installed light-47.0.en-US.linux-x86_64.rpm by doing

Code:
rpm -i light-47.0.en-US.linux-x86_64.rpm

light wont start

Code:
# light
XPCOMGlueLoad error for file /usr/local/lib/light/libmozgtk.so:
libgtk-3.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Couldn't load XPCOM.

Now when I try to uninstall it I get

Code:
# rpm -e light-47.0.en-US.linux-x86_64.rpm
rpm: invalid option -- 'e'
BusyBox v1.23.1 (2015-10-06 20:25:17 EST) multi-call binary.

Usage: rpm -i PACKAGE.rpm; rpm -qp[ildc] PACKAGE.rpm

Manipulate RPM packages

Commands:
   -i   Install package
   -qp   Query package
   -qpi   Show information
   -qpl   List contents
   -qpd   List documents
   -qpc   List config files

How do I completely remove light ?

I have installed the rpm package using the Puppy Package Manager.

Now I get
Code:
 cd Downloads/
# rpm -ev light-47.0.en-US.linux-x86_64.rpm
error: package light-47.0.en-US.linux-x86_64.rpm is not installed

Icons for light has appeared in the start menu under Network and Internet but it wont launch.

The answer's in your error message.

Use Pfind and tell us whether "/usr/lib/libgtk-3.so.0" and additional references are onboard.

Copy those two to /usr/lib64 or whatever 64's /urs/lib designation is. Might be /usr/lib_64??

Note: When using Pfind, goto "File" and export your search results to text.

On Pup your save's located here >> /mnt/home.

Do you see a "devx_slacko64_*.sfs" file there?

Open "SFS_load-on-the-fly" and see whether she's loaded there..

==

As for removal of that rpm, redwnld the pkg to /tmp, then rt-clk and UExtract or similar to see the contents of where the pkg unloads items to in the filesystem.

As a novice you should probably AVOID using the cmdline for pkgs.

Pup is for the most part a pure GUI pacman.

Quick read..

In your /root directory, click the "eye" on the ROX toolbar and open /root/.packages.

Here you'll find where "Light" installed to.

As for removal, this is done with Pups pkg manager.

I'm unsure whether Slacko64 would need the compatibility libs, but, the 32b build runs here on Tahr..
