Simple program to acquire GPS data

#1 Post by mister_electronico »

I think this simple GPS data acquisition program does not have much interest here but anyway I leave it in case someone serves.

This program is only tested with the GPS_GY-NE06MV2 an inexpensive circuit bought in Chinese web. But I think it works with other GPS with NMEA protocol, which I think are the majority.

The connection was made as follows for the case of this GPS.

This program is developed on slacko-puppy 5.6 but I think it works correctly on other distributions with system jwm windows, but it may not create menu entry, in that case open it by terminal.

sat1 <enter>

This program test mode so it may contain bugs.

Read the help in the program for your use.

Good luck

Thanks . Do you have an English version of your web site?
If you put your pic in as a "png" I think it displays it rather than forces a download but it seems variable as far as results go.

jpg is OK for the picture format.
You probably posted it in too wide a width.
Post it no wider than 800. 600 is even better.
There is a max width size limit (800), in the forum, for pictures to be visible and not show as a download.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected

I reduced the image size so it would show without having to download it.

Why do people use black backgrounds? :?: I can't make out the first field at all, and I have to get up close and squint to see the next two. Red characters on a black background, sheesh. There's a reason why books aren't white characters printed on black paper.

Sorry.

Sorry when I put the image in this post my browser did not show me the image, only the link to open it, but now opening with another browser I realize that the image is displayed in the post.

Sorry the web is in Spanish, but I put it because in the image it is clearly shown how to make the connections to the PC for the exclusive case of this GPS, but for other GPS the connections will be different.

It can directly through USB or maybe via USB-rs232 connection.

Sorry I use darker themes because my eyes are burned from so many hours on the computer.

Regards...

All good thanks.
When I had to change normal backgrounds to make it better for my eyes I went to the doctor who referred me to the specialist optometrist . Turned out living on a boat many sea goers have cataracts develop. Driving a car down through shady bits I had to slow right down as I could not see into them.

$7000 later I had the cataracts removed and plastic lenses put in and eyesight is back to normal now . What a difference when you can see the TV clearly . Didn't notice the dimming.

They do one eye at a time and its the strangest feeling looking at the line in the road . Seeing two different paths and knowing either one of them is right. Work that out.

The white or very clear colors I notice that burn my eyes a lot, especially when these many hours working with the computer.

That is why I always try to work with dark backgrounds and dark windows.
