USB to Serial converter using FTDI FT232RL chip (works)

#1 Post by Marv »

This is one of those nice cases of YES it just works out of the box. I am using a generic (Folger Products) converter and a magnetic reed switch from ebay for a simple turns counter for loom warping. No additional drivers or software required in X-slacko 3.1 & 4.2, LxPupSC 16.10.2, X-tahr 2.0 or LxPupXenial 16.08. /dev/ttyUSB0 available on plugin and microcom has all the timeouts I needed for my switchtest loops. I'm running it on one of the Pentium M laptops and even with event driven gtkdialog and some yaf-splashes the program keeps up with all reasonable winding speeds. :D :D :D
Pups currently in kennel :D Older LxPupSc and X-slacko-4.4 for my users; LxPupSc, LxPupSc64 and upupEF for me. All good pups indeed, and all running savefiles for look'n'feel only. Browsers, etc. solely from SFS.
