HP Laptop Wireless recognition

The name says it all. On my old HP laptop 8230 Tahr pup 602 activates and uses the onboard wireless without problems. On the other hand Slacko 32 6.9.6 does,nt see it at all. Question is,what is missing. Any help appreciated.

So what modules are running on both of them?
What other info can you give relating to the wifi driver?
