xfe-1.41-3 for Xenialpup64 maybe others

#3 Post by mikeslr »

Hi All,

plinej's links seem to be broken. The following is a link to xfe_xen64-1.41-3.pet. As it's name suggests, it was built for Xenialpup64. However, my experience with previous versionson of xfe (albeit 32-bit) suggest that whatever Puppy they are constructed for they will function under any Puppy having that architecture (i.e., 32-bit or 64-bit).

But, of course, try at your own risk after taking proper precautions.

What I like about xfe is that it will not replace rox. On standard Puppies, rox is used for more than just file-management. It may be possible to change to xfe as default file-manager, leaving rox to perform its other necessary functions. I haven't tried. I'm happy to use xfe when a dual-pane, or dual-pane with tree-view, file-manager can more efficiently do the job. It's small size makes adding it a no-brainer even if you are fanatic about keeping Puppies small.

It comes with its own text editor, image viewer and terminal (xterm) all of which may be useful. But you can change its preferences.

It will warn you that you are running as root.
