I've found this issue:
If you apply the new desktop/pinboard icons and after which you add more icons(firefox, skype, gimp, etc) and then reapply this theme through PupGant-Config you'll lose those new pinboard icons.

PupGant.pup updated, reason: New xFilemount MIME Types [Read more]; Backup option for "PupGant-Config"; missed icon for "console" (Pinboard)

Screenshot: Rox 2.5 showing xFileMount icons and properties for image.gz. English for the standard Puppy Live CD or spanish for the "langpack"(coming soon)

Please read the README again:

Code: Select all

Using:
   Select "PupGant" theme in ROX-Filer:
   - ROX-Filer Options>Types>Icon Theme

To change desktop and gtk icon theme run the config tool:
   - PupGant-Config
Now, if you run "PupGant-Config"(Menu>DotPups>PupGant-Config or type in a terminal window: PupGant-Config ) choose "Apply":
Image
After which Rox will be restarted but this time using PupGant as Gtk Icon Theme. e.g.: toolbars for ROX-Filer, Abiword, Gnumeric, etc; gnome, xfce menues(xdg only); Xdialog(GTK2 version); etc. Also overwriting "globicons"(/root/.config/rox.sourceforge.net/ROX-Filer/globicons) with an edited one that use Gant icons for the pinboard(Desktop icons). If the new desktop theme don't suit you, use: 'PupGant-Config>Restore' to recover the last settings. The "Backup" option doesn't need more explanation.

Hi wow! :)

How ironic... I've had my Puppy running on the Gant icons for perhaps the past month or so when I discovered a pack for ROX & Xfce at I believe Xfce-look.org and then I just changed them all over to Vista-Inspirate last night! LOL!

I agree with you though that the Gant icons are a beautiful set, and what you've done here---making an installer which so easily accomplishes in minutes what takes me an hour by hand---is amazing.

This made me think of this programme which you've made here: How easy (or difficult) would it be to code such a programme as an "Icon-Changer"? Sort of like a "theme changer" but for icons in Puppy? You've seemed to have done an excellent job here by laying down the groundwork with Gant. Anyway to make such a one where a person could select a standard icon set and have it change all of Puppy's icons?

I'm no programmer so this is why I'm asking you where you've accomplished this with Gant.

Curious to see your thoughts and ideas on this. Keep up the great work in any case! Gant is a fabulous set! :)

The mime-types (what shows up under Rox for say, text files) are already easy with Rox 2.5. You just place the icon themes in /root/.icons/, right-click the whitespace in Rox, choose options, go to "Types", and use the drop-down menu to choose.

For the rest, a theme switcher would be handy (it could probably tell Rox to switch also). There already is something like that as a dotpup, but I don't remember which icons it handles.

Thanks Pizzagood!

Yes... just downloaded it and I'll have to install it later when I hop into Puppy. It's called the "Desktop-Iconthemes.pup" and from the screenshots provided it works like the "Cursors-Iconthemes.pup". Thanks for bringing that up! I've gone through the icon list in PSI I don't know how many times to grab the latter along with other icon sets and how I missed the other is beyond me. LOL! Well, I work on the PC all night long and tend to get bleary-eyed so that could be the reason. (Looking for an out here. ;) )

Thanks again mon ami!

I discovered xfce-look.org a while ago and try to keep away from it! There's just so much stuff to download there...
