For groups of packages that don't all fall under the same category

using Android packages on Puppy or DebianDog/Mintpup?

#1 Post by mcewanw »

Having been given an android phone for my birthday, I note the huge number of useful apps available, so being able to use some of them in Linux would I feel be nice. The following seem to provide some mechanisms to do so (including Android emulators of course):

Meanwhile, Canonical thinks they might yet convince more smartphone makers to ditch Android for Ubuntu:

There are some very useful apps that can be installed on your phone to go a long way to it being useful and used in conjunction with your Linux/Windows/Unix PC(s).

I have used the RDP app to access those desktops for over 4 years. Not to mention you have the new ability to cast information to devices in your home. All of the newer PUPs are coming with SAMBA built in so you might, also, find that the ES app can allow you 2-way data movement, when needed in the home.

And, if you have a Google ID, your ID will bridge your data for you to any platform you have.

You might find that helpful.

P.S. I dont envy you on the learning curve you are about to embark.... Enjoy!

Depends what you mean by "On Linux". i.e. yes - in an emulator.

FWIW I've never got Archon to actually work (on Arch Linux 32-bit)
Do you know a good gtkdialog program? Please post a link here

The problem with trying to run android apps on your computer is you might not have access to play store and if you bought any apps for your android devices, the licenses might not work on your PC. A better solution might be to remote into your android device.
