Dear users,
I have problems installing OpenGL accelarated 3D ATI drivers,
for my Radeon Mobility 9600. I used the driver which I downloaded
from ATI's webpage. After installing the driver and after running the
aticonfig I couldn't startx. I searched the corresponding file usually
placed in /var/log/Xorg.0.log and I saw that at the end it complained
that it couldn't load the fglrx module although the module was there.
Not to mention that the directory /dev/shm was missing and I had to
create it manually and mount tmpfs under /dev/shm as required by
ATI.
Did anyone of you had the same problems in puppy? If yes how did
you managed to solve them?
Thanks,
S.N.

I know you don't want SVideo out, but this will still take you through all of the steps. As a bonus, if you connect up an SVideo cable, you will have SVideo out -- http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=14261
I have an ATI 9600 as well, so I know that my method installs all necessary drivers and bits and pieces to use the video card.

correct, but it seems in some cases there is a new problem.
(btw. thanks for your nice instruction)
archwndas:
Please type in a consolewindow
lsmod
Paste the result here like this:
select the text with the mouse.
Middle click in a message to paste it.
It seems on some computers the Agp-bridge is not detected correctly, we must find out how to fix that.
