Excellent. I also have a version for Fatdog. The in-kernel version was reported to work, so I never posted it. Maybe the vendor version would work even better.

Racy 5.3 (Kernel 3.0.25)

#4 Post by Pelo »

i bookmarked this topic for Racy 5.3 (Kernel 3.0.25) because not only Racy is one of my prefered Puppies, but i have switched the kernels of a dozen Lucid Puppies to 3.0.25 to allow them to connect wireless.
Lucid puppies 528..5 advanced have kernel 3.0.25 too (Sulu)
PS ;
Maybe the vendor version would work even better.
Some recent Puppies connect wlan 1 (ASRI EDU 310 precise 5.7.1 as exemple) getting rate reach 70, but with your pet quite 100.
For me, at my house or around, 40 is enough, but 100 means that if i go away in the country, i will remain connected longer. Heu, i think...

For users of Puppy 431 and its variants like Toutou, I have posted 8192cu_puppy_431-k2.6.30.5.pet above.

This works well in PWF. But you don't get a tray icon so you have to run it from the Network menu. In /root/Startup, delete the file peasywifi_tray.

Excellent. Are you having any problems with drop-outs, or is the connection stable?

A big vote of thanks to rscrn51 for the collection of drivers at the head of this post. It saved me a lot of time. The 3.14.55 driver works for me on Slacko 6.3 with the Edimax 7811 nano-USB wifi dongle. As expected I needed to blacklist the default RTL8192cu driver. All is well. Thanks again.

Once again thanks

New driver added for xenial_701-k4.5.2.

If would be nice to know if this vendor-based driver is still better than the in-kernel version.

rcrsn51, hi,

I just buyed a wireless pendrive D-link DWA 123 YWA 123BR.....D1G for my laptop Parckard Bell which does not have wireless card.

I am on Precise Triton 573, kernel 3.9.11

So I downloaded and installed 8192cu_precise571-k3.9.11.pet.

When I list the usb devices the pendrive appears

Bus 001 Device 004: ID 2001:3310 D-Link Corp.

But is does not seem to be loaded.

After read many things on internet, inclusive here, I don't know how to do.

Peux-tu m'aider?

Thanks.

I looked up this device at wikidevi.com. It is NOT an rtl8192cu device - it needs the rtl8188eu driver.

This driver is not in the Precise 3.9.11 kernel yet, so the adapter was not detected.

Read here for a collection of 8188eu driver PETs.
