My office suites are on Windows system

#41 Post by Pelo »

"Because I thought it would be useful, and because I have learned to trust neither Abiword nor Gnumeric"
but without an office suite you would have been able to add a lot of image editing apps, it does not matter.
As darry1996 says, users will find graphic applications in the office suite.
My office suites are on Windows system, because i never use them. But i will take a glance to these graphics apps.

Pelo, there is no maximum size for a Pup. There is no limit. I added everything I thought was useful.

If you don't like that I did that, strip out what you don't find useful.

Failing that, find another Pup to use.

By the way, you really should produce something other than short remarks about abandoned Pups.

:D Hello,
Don't worry about Pelo.
I know him from my group:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=59524
The Puppy Linux Users Group on Facebook.
Here's the PAW ( Puppy Artists Workshop) thread, if you want ideas on stuff to add to Vinnie! http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=40876
I have a newer, Precise based version, with kernel 4.1.0, but I'm still working on it.
Good luck with Vinnie, graphic arts deserve a special Pup!

Vinnie has been abandoned for some time, or Pelo would quite likely not be in this thread.

;)

I can't really help with graphics stuff as much as I want to. My graphic arts program is not really compatible with Linux (because Corel turns its nose up at the penguins, sadly) and most of what I do these days is with a mechanical pencil anyways.

I simply don't know what artists want and/or need from a Pup at this time.

Vincent Van Pup 3992 tested last day 2015. Seamonkey as browser.
My Paint : never used before, that is the point of my interest.
MyPaint topic here

Libre office and Chrome... trashed.
My USB pendrive includes azami Chrome which is a Puplet from Hungarian countries. ,, a really nice european puplette
And Libre Office is stored Windows 7 hardisk, waiting for use, perhaps, for 2016. I prefer softmaker tools, however

Mypaint is not so common in the Puppy's family.

#47 Post by Pelo »

"There's also MyPaint, which appears to be a very powerful application for digital painting -- I'm pretty sure that, given the right drivers and such, you could use it with (for example) a Wacom Tablet, and do some VERY nifty things. It can also be used with a mouse, of course... these are just the tip of the proverbial iceberg; Vinnie's got a TON of stuff! " Vincent Van Pup 3992 launch Mypaint, what is not so common in the Puppy's family.
I will study how-to to get the best of this famous application.
Argolance, our french designer provides nice (full tested) SFS or pets to use with Vincent van Puppy
see here for version 0.72 XNview and family
Raw, what is raw ? Some rare APN camera don't process pictures, as an option. So they are huge. But of high quality.
The first user who has raw pictures at home, please inform me... ! :)

"Upup Raring 3992 Non-PAE. It'll run on basically anything " Your ISO size will prevent it to run computers with 512MB RAM ! Augras in french forum has a computers group and is looking for graphics apps to make available on these computers. He is fond of UPUP Raring, but no so big version.

Pelo, Vinnie is resting peacefully now. Must you disturb what has passed on?

Vincent Van PUP no more supported.

#53 Post by Pelo »

Vinnie will be famous after his death.
Ok so delete ISO from repositories, and Change title Vincent Van PUP no more supported.
Because if on the forum release date is important for builders, :) users on source forge .net or elsewhere don't care about that.
Think that 90 % of users don't really speak an read english and don't suscribe to the forum. But many still burn CDs
Pls prevent them not to Burn Vincent.
Perhaps as JC, vincent will be back again, but not free. So i Keep this ISO as investment

The best way is to load an SFS special 'Graphics'

#55 Post by Pelo »

The best way is to load an SFS special 'Graphics' on any Puppy since Lucid 528 (RSH repositories, german Forum).
After install, how to compose edit your picture, some users are specialists (see topics specific to graphics apps : mtpaint, lazpaint, Gimp) Paint has no such an interest but its MB size, and dependencies are huge. GIMP is the tool, when you want to get one picture Your 'Chef d'oeuvre'. Fotoxx is light, but powerfull
Learn how to use MTpaint is a great step. Having a lot of apps is useless if you don't know how to use them.
Raw applications : you need a camera able to keep pictures in raw format. There are very expensive (Nikon, and not all the Nikons)
al that is a little bit 'tape à l'oeil' (flashy, says Google translation)

:D Hello.
My Photo Artists Workshop is still oit there.
But its based on Puppy 4.12 with an older kernel that dont play well with some newer stuff.
Works well on Intel machines.
Nvidia, not so much.
Ive been toying with an update, but Ill have to recomplie stuff against a newer glibc.

A version 421 or 431 is not a problem. It will do the job...

#57 Post by Pelo »

Hello Puppyluvr, how are you ?
A version 421 or 431 is not a problem. It will do the job...
Photo editing does not need 64 bit, newest kernels.
At my work office i had corelDraw and Photoshop with windows 98. To do an image (DAO) of an industrial mean was three month job !
Using these tools without having lessons is quite impossible, to obtain a result accepted by the boss.

Your Paw is still valid... as a lot of applications an appli working well in 2009 still works in 2016.
A newbie will have better to begin with an old version, with basic functions.
Sofpedia stil recommends Photo artist workshops

puppy studio is a real succes on softpedia (audio tools)

#58 Post by Pelo »

puppy studio is a real succes on softpedia. Go to the topic. van Pup has missed something or perhaps was not what people need (developers and users don't appreciate the same stuff)
Sometimes go to Softpedia to boost an application is much more efficient than posting in the forum here. (only your colleagues read it)
Softpedia : downloads
Tahrpup more than 110.000
Slacko more than 10.000
Paw .. slaxen, toppy etc...

But Puppy Studio is like a paid download right?

I am not keen on that. Guess one can not buy one and then redistribute with minor changes? :-)
I am not after selling software, but more like trying to bundle up a collection that offers solutions for various needs.

That other one mentioned built on 4.12 sounds more interesting than the paid stuff. I dont even have a creditcard :-)

Free and gratis

#60 Post by Pelo »

??? atle, we should'nt provide you an application for which you had to pay a penny ! Free and gratis are obvious here .
GIMP image editor, Fotoxx image editor, XPaint and mtPaint graphics and xnview are free of charge, as the others.
