chrome

#81 Post by clasico3124 »

actually the chrome open in x-tahr but need a script (chrome.sh) like this :

#!/bin/sh
Exec=usr/bin/google-chrome-stable --user-data-dir=/root/.config/chrome --disk-cache-size=10000000 --media-cache-size=10000000

well there are a solution.

X-Tahr 1b2 on the same system cannot raise a desktop; its driver selection does not support the particular graphics chipset that this system has.

Can the openchrome driver from X-Precise 2.4 be recompiled to function in X-Tahr 1b2?
What VIA chipset is it exactly? xf86-video-openchrome-0.3.3 man page says:

"openchrome driver supports the following chipsets: CLE266, KM400/KN400/KM400A/P4M800,
CN400/PM800/PN800/PM880, K8M800, CN700/VM800/P4M800Pro, CX700, P4M890, K8M890,

VX855. My real-world experience unfortunately is contradicting that manpage at the moment, although I will note that the USB stick I've been using for testing is having problems... I'll do more testing later.

Sorry, thought I'd followed up here. The latest X-Pup that will boot to GUI on this hardware, IIRC, is X-Precise 2.4... a little old for what I want...

EDIT: confirmed, with the caveat that it only seems to work if you manually run xorgwizard -- the auto-run version gives me a nasty note from my monitor, that it can't display the resolution selected. (That may very well be my monitor!)

I'll do some testing with X-Precise and see how well (or not) it behaves for what I want to do. I may be able to make it work...

Yes, that definitely sounds like your monitor is the problem.

In that one case, probably -- but for the rest of it, not so much... I've tried X-Tahr on three different screens, and it won't give me a GUI on any of 'em. No signal is put out from the computer at all...

Have you tried Tahr puppy on this machine to see if the same thing happens?

Yep. Also TahrNOP, Azami ChromeLite (a modified VividPup), X-Slacko 3.0, and several of peebee's LxPups (specifically Slacko, Tahr, Unicorn, and Vivid). All have the same result -- no signal. openchrome is the only driver that "works" even that well -- selecting vesa or modesetting results in not only the same effect at the GUI attempt, but also that it doesn't /quite/ get back to CLI mode on CTRL+ALT+BKSP. It freezes with a blinking cursor at the top of the screen, no text. Hard power-off is the only option.

...LxPrecise and X-Precise have identical GUI behavior, BTW -- 'illegal' resolution (probably hard-coded to 1600x1200 or something) but manual xorgwizard sets it right -- but LXDE is foreign enough to me that I can't work it. Not much faster than XFCE, either, despite the 'lightweight' claims...

...check yer PM's, BTW ;)

Strange, Non-PAE should see at least 3GB of RAM. PAE version will come after the betas for V1.0.

I've uploaded a 1b3 ISO and 1b2 > 1b3 delta to the repo.

This will most likely be the last beta release, v1.0 will be mostly app updates.

Changes:
add categories to applications.menu
add Setup category to Control Panel
fixes to PPM and /etc/xdg/menus/hierarchy for Xfce menu
update PPM databases
update to firefox-38.2.1esr
update to retrovol-0.14.3-X
update to xfdesktop-4.12.3
update to yad-0.30.0
various small fixes

My wifi is internal usb.

internal 30 gig toshiba ext3 drive is just storage for sd card install.
Install done with unetbootin (linux version)
Will install grub4dos later on to replace syslinux bootloader for more boot options.
Have not made a save yet.

Everything hardware wise is working fine from what I can tell so far.
Nice distro rg66. Thanks from the mexican border.
This netbook is the new Puppy test box.

I can only see 3. 8227556 kB is the same as 8227MB. The /root properties is either disk space, savefile space or maybe tmpfs space if your in RAM.
