Easytag-1.99.13 : Audio Tag Editor

#1 Post by Dougal »

EasyTAG is an utility for viewing and editing tags for MP3, MP2, FLAC,
Ogg Vorbis.

I compiled it without support for mp4 (= big dependency).
I did compile it with the latest FLAC version -- see below.

If you don't know Easytag, here's what they have to say baout it:
Currently EasyTAG supports the following:

o View, edit, write tags of MP3, MP2 files (ID3 tag with pictures), FLAC files
(FLAC Vorbis tag), Ogg Vorbis files (Ogg Vorbis tag).
o Can edit more tag fields : Title, Artist, Album, Disc Album, Year, Track
Number, Genre, Comment, Composer, Original Artist/Performer, Copyright, URL
and Encoder name,
o Auto tagging: parse filename and directory to complete automatically the
fields (using masks),
o Ability to rename files and directories from the tag (using masks) or by
loading a text file,
o Process selected files of the selected directory,
o Ability to browse subdirectories,
o Recursion for tagging, removing, renaming, saving...,
o Can set a field (artist, title,...) to all other selected files,
o Read file header informations (bitrate, time, ...) and display them,
o Auto completion of the date if a partial is entered,
o Undo and redo last changes,
o Ability to process fields of tag and file name (convert letters into
uppercase, downcase, ...),
o Ability to open a directory or a file with an external program,
o CDDB support using Freedb.org servers (manual and automatic search),
o A tree based browser or a view by Artist & Album,
o A list to select files,
o A playlist generator window,
o A file searching window,
o Simple and explicit interface!,
o Brazilian Portuguese, Bulgarian, Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, French,
German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Romanian, Russian,
Spanish, Swedish and Ukrainian translation languages,

I split it into two packages:
easytag-1.99.13-base ( dotpup size: 183k ; extracted: 203k )
Gives you the program ready to run in English, including man pages.

easytag-1.99.13-locale ( dotpup size: 486k ; extracted: 1359k )
Contains the following locales:
bg, cs, da, de, el, es, fr, hu, it, ja, nl, pl, pt_BR, ro, ru, sv, uk, zh_CN

You will also need the following dependencies, if you haven't got them installed already:
libFLAC-1.1.3 ( dotpup size: 100k ; extracted: 230k )
(note that this is the new FLAC and an older version of FLAC will not do! However, this one will not overwrite your old one)
id3lib-3.8.3-lib ( dotpup size: 91k ; extracted: 220k )

Can anybody confirm that the download works properly? - when I try to install it it says it is installing, and then asks if I want to delete the dotpup, but it doesn't seem to have actually installed anything. I'm running Grafpup, and am wondering if it is not compatible.

Disciple - What version of Grafpup are you running, because this will most likely NOT work in 104. I intend to provide an easytag package for 2.00, BTW.

Thanks Nathan. I am in 104 - the older version someone else made works fine so I'll stick with that. It just seemed strange that it didn't seem to actually do anything when it installed, even though it said it did - I had one other dotpup that did the same (Enlightenment or something) but a lot of recent dotpups still seem to work.

Well if it's working that's great. But really, if something does work going from Puppy2 to Grafpup-104 it should be considered lucky.

I compiled Easytag-0.99.13 today, FYI, and it will be in the repo for the next Grafpup alpha snapshot. Along with a bunch of other new stuff.

i installed the base version on 301 hd install, and get the following error message:

Code: Select all

# easytag
easytag: symbol lookup error: /lib/libid3-3.8.so.3: undefined symbol: _ZNSs4_Rep20_S_empty_rep_storageE
#
any ideas?

thanks,

Did you install the id3lib package in the first post?
If you never got anywhere with this maybe look for the version I packaged and see if it works. It was newer and had better support for album art, but was the last version not to cause problems with album art in older id3 versions...
Do you know a good gtkdialog program? Please post a link here
