Open & convert .epub files issues

I can't open .epub files. Setting run action haven't got them to be opened. They don't open with calibre. Calibre doesn't seem to run at all. I tried it as sfs and as full installed without success.

I generally just convert my epub, mobi or whatever ebook files to text for reading. There are many online converters. Balabolka has a utility which will convert many of these ebook formats to text. The latter can be downloaded from their site, very useful but you will need WINE if working with linux.

the one in quickpet works and has all dependencies.

i would remove all versions from /opt and any calibre files in /usr/bin and then use the calibre-1.4.0.sfs

I unloaded and reloaded sfs and now calibre runs and opens epubs. But:

When I click on an epub, it doesn't open. I need right-click and choose "open with" and select "calibre" to open it.

When I open epubs, they are viewed fine. But I tried to convert one to pdf, and the letter size was maximized too much.

It says "Update found: 2.32.1". Should I update it?

It worked. Thanks a lot. Now the only problem is about converting files. The created pdf has more than the treble number of pages than the original epub. Because of the maximized size of letters.

Then if not an online solution, maybe try the binary here. Yep! You'll need a Java sfs now.

FBReader works well. I can't find the 0.99 version on line; it's by technosaurus.
I can send it to you. Will look on another hard drive.

epub2pdf created a pdf with large sized letters, too. The online solution got a better pdf file, but still not same page style with original epub.

The maximized letters' size problem is not a Puppy problem. I used calibre to convert an epub to pdf at Lubuntu and the result was quite the same.

I use the Firefox epub add on if I read them on my PC or via my Kobo Touch

Thanks. Firefox add on worked for me, too. But only on firefox. On Palemoon doesn't work, although it's available for installation.

in calibre when converting epub to pdf .... click on the PDF output option and change the font size to suit

you can also also try changing the paper size
