1b2 delta

#41 Post by Marv »

Delta file downloaded, 1b2 iso generated, md5sum checked, and used to update the frugal install in my 'Experimental' directory on the core 2 duo iwlwifi laptop. The 1b1 savefile manually cleansed and used. My simple setup is up and running 1b2 fine (other than a failing spacebar.. new keyboard on a slow boat from China). Using it as my daily.
Pups currently in kennel :D Older LxPupSc and X-slacko-4.4 for my users; LxPupSc, LxPupSc64 and upupEF for me. All good pups indeed, and all running savefiles for look'n'feel only. Browsers, etc. solely from SFS.

No sorry, I had other thing to do. Will try and compile/upload some more soon.

Edit: Both dict and sc-shooter are asking for xfce4-gui which isn't used anymore plus they failed to compile after installing gui and DEV files.

I added the pets from my Quirky Unicorn 6.2.1 install + a gnome-icon-theme-3.12.0-i686.pet that I made in Quirky Unicorn installation.

Added kdegames from PPM but needed to add quite a few dependencies to get it going (all dependencies were in PPM), I didn't update PPM first if that made any difference.

Anyway, I can do everything that I want (browse,listen to music (mpg123),play Nexuiz242, etc)) so am enjoying this pup.

Thanks :)

Could you upload the panel-plugins somewhere and I'll add them to the repo, also the gnome icons if possible?

No need to update PPM, the package databases are from June 18th.

I really like this! What's the best way to go about upgrading the kernel? I installed this on an Acer C720 chromebook but the touchpad doesn't work. Kernel 3.17 or higher adds support though so it would be nice to use that. The sound didn't work for me either, even after selecting the default card and messing with the mixer. Might be kernel related too?

Any suggestions are appreciated. :)

The developer of tahr has other kernels here: http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pu ... r/kernels/, just replace the zdrv and vmlinuz.

@ConfigX asks for directions: I think this forum can help if we know which processor and which model of Acer Chromebook he has, as I believe, some have differing chipsets.. Also, too, Does he have a "touchscreen" model?

@rg66 I suggest that you use cheser as the default icon set for x-tahr and also for x-slacko

Thanks for the suggestion mistfire. X-series has always used "Elementary" desktop icons and the full cheser pkg is just too big to include. I'll see if I can make a half decent cheser desktop icon pkg and post it.

I know that rg66. Just pick some icons from it. I suggest these icons that cheser must be used:

* Folders (this is the top priority)
* Places
* Actions
