Flash,

usually blogs need an online-administration, thats to say you need (expensive) webspace supporting PHP-scripts.

This blog is "written" with a Desktop-application, the files are uploaded as static HTML-pages then, like a "Homepage".

So you can use even very cheap webspace.

Here is my latest Puppy - Thingamablog creation:
http://ham-macguyver.bibleseven.com/

Fun to create and hopefully as much fun to use.

It should be noted and should have been mentioned (IMO) that this will download 3 mb of files and also requires java!

Already have Java loaded (the one Puppy recommends is smaller than most but large
enough to get the job done).

To me it is worth it for the portability.

Posts may not be made to Thingamablog from anywhere other than the host PC.

One way is to log in as a remote user but that it a hassle and risky.

I want to enable multiple people to post as Authors, they could be in different parts
of the world and I do not want to give out access to my PC.

Thingamablog is unique because it "does all the heavy lifting by keeping a master copy of the blog local and only uploads html to the server"

In the short-term the solution is to have other "Authors" E-mail me their text and images
and I will manually post them.

HOWEVER ...

Anyone tried the following?

1. Using the Message Filter direct E-mails from approved Authors to a special E-mail folder. (I am using the Seamonkey Internet App, other E-mail filters may differ.)

[NOTE: Authors would need to make their submissions following an agreed upon
standard layout.]

2. Create an app/macro "remote_author" that polls the content of that special E-mail folder for new E-mails.

3. Code "remote_author" to move each new E-mail out of that folder and into a Thingamablog folder (perhaps stripping any HTML and other artifacts) one at a time (completing the following steps before acting on the next).

4. Code "remote_author" to open Compose New Entry and copy the new E-mail text into the Compose New Entry buffer.

5. Code "remote_author" to then act on the next submission, if any.

I wish I were smart enough to write this but it has been about 15 years since I last
wrote a macro and I think I have forgotten more than I ever knew!

WDYT?
