"IPTraf 3.0.0 - September 19, 2005
Announcing the release of IPTraf 3.0.0, the newest major release featuring an improved filtering system, and wider network interface support."
http://iptraf.seul.org/download.html
Instructions
Decompress the file to any folder
Open that folder and take
-iptraf
-raw time
-rvnamed
And put in the /bin
folder, by drag and drop this will copy it to that folder. (or it will just link back to the folder where they are, regardless this works for me:)
Part A
Next in RXVT or xwindows type
iptraf
press enter
if it shows that it was unable to create a file lock, just ignore and press enter again and choose your options, I suggest > All interfaces. ( the choices might be "lo" . locale interface or ppp0 or eth0). The ppp0 interface option may not exist until you have connected to the net.
One last tip is that you can create many different windows of different functions of this application by repeating the process from starting by creating the process for Part A.
In many ways this is a better app. than Ipstate, although I dont think it shows the TTL for each connection.
Although there may be a better or more proper means to install I am a newbie and this worked for me.
Comments or corrections as always. If someone could make this app. available on the forum or one of the servers please. I am still working out how to post a screenshot:}}
Cheers.
