I'm trying to build a pet to work but asked countless libraries in the end just does not work well.
Does anyone know of any pet, SFS or any of the many distros Puppy in which Ekiga malfunction.?
Thanks in advance.

Ekiga is really a gnome desktop application. I had it running in Lucid a few years ago downloaded via PPM with LOTS of dependencies and I do remember trying to compile it from source but it needs gnome-icon-theme which is quite big and most of that is not needed (really the few needed icons need to be extracted or something to get rid of the silly bloat). Again I think it did sort of work, but in the end I concluded that Linphone is a fraction of the size and works much better.
For video conferencing if you are not anti-Google you could try Hangouts. This uses google talk plugin (which I made a .pet of and tested recently) and works through a browser.

To add
I use already built into the latest firefox to talk with my nieces
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/hello/
which is also operating independent and and needs no installation.
I used to use Jitsi to replace skype but this route is way easier since most folks already run firefox.
Maybe someone will reply with a ekiga .sfs though.

There are others around also I think.

Thank you for your proposals
Thank you for your proposals.
OscarTalks is funny verify that others have passed the same calamities trying to make works Ekiga.
I also install through PPM and also packet in all cases ask countless libraries At the end it says something like:
there is no information about the X library required by the library Y.
I fix it and back again too much time wasted on this.
At the moment I'm a little anti-Google but finally I'll testing.
First I'll test rokytnji option It looks interesting Jitsi.
Yesterday linphone install and works but I don't know how works with video.
Thank you for your interesting proposals.
