How many 64bit Puppy projects are there now?

Fatdog , Lighthouse any others?

In Puppyland, these can be found

TahrPUP64
LxPUP64
Slacko64
April64
EmSee (when DVD boots, user is presented 32 or a 64bit option)
Just-LightHouse64 as well as Chubby64 found on the same thread)

There is one other that is also a low-latency distro for musicians, but, general purposed, as well.

Edit: My Mistake. I should have looked at my download library of PUPs I have tested. Corrected to LxPUP64. Rapid Pup is also one of those in the library that was tested with great results, as well. Apologies to all.

Has Barry ever given his thoughts about you converting Quirky to 64bit as i thought he was quite protective of that project.?

lol April is Quirky... for now.. whatever is under development he says is Quirky, or unstable releases, that may or may not have a future. Since he gave it a name April then he plans on sticking with the concepts for a while.
Just whenever Quirky is used its a code word for experimental and or unstable release. Most of us view Quirky as the way BK developed Puppylinux in the olden days, he added new ideas weekly, we would be release junkies. With puppylinux getting popular, he logically had to stop being so cutting edge creative.

BK is not that protective of the source or build tool, he has it all available online, however he does protect name and related like branding or trademark, and proper attribution.
If he was so protective then the thousand plus spinoff and spinoffs of spinoffs ( see above ) would never existed.
Since I saw your post on Fatdog64 I think you are hunting for replacement. I would recommend Slacko64 but its a bit dated, I believe the Lx version would be the most active spinoff if you need something more current and less ( quirky )

BarryK has been issuing 64bit versions since January 2015.
A 64bit base was used for Rapid Pup so there was no need for conversion.

Seems to me the other projects such as Fatdog would be better off basing themselves on Quirky 64bit just like Rapid so they have working packages and drivers that people have been working on for the Quirky project.

Fatdogs excuse is people use old computers but if it's that old and lacking ram then people should be using 32bit nanolinux desktop at 14mb , Not 64 bit base.

Things aren't that cut-and-dried.

Building 64-bit Linux is not a well-proven art. These are the early days, there is still much pioneering to be done.

The easy road is to take some other distro's binaries, trust that they are well-built, reconfigure them into a live-boot runs-in-ram architecture such as Puppy's, and slap-in your own init scripts. Such as Slacko64, AlphaOS (Arch-based), and the upup zoo (raring tahr unicorn etc.). Best craftsmanship in 64-bit slap-together I've seen is the Lighthouse series of Puppies.

In contrast, there are two independent build-from-the-toolchain-up procedures : LFS (Linux from Scratch) and T2.

FatDog is an LFS build, Quirky April is T2.

It remains to be seen whether one or the another has a clear advantage.

It takes maybe 10,000 hours to build a distro like Quirky or Fatdog.

Some drivers like Maserati's, some like Lamborghini's...ouch my eyes!--both are impressive toys.

Good to see the Puppy community well represented in both build arenas. Someday, someone might even succeed in making a truly magnificent 64-bit Puppy. Or Ubuntu, or Slackware, or Debian, or Fedora...
