Hi Vicmz,
How can I get docked apps to show their task title under Openbox with lxpanel? Right now they are compressed, which gets confusing.
I'll show you what I mean.....

Right-click the panel, select Panel Settings and check the Panel Applets tab, maybe the Spacers are set too long. Or maybe you have too many tray applets/app launchers for your screen width, this should not be a problem if you have an HD-sized screen though.
You can also try this:
- Right-click lxpanel in the middle and select Taskbar (Window List) Settings.
- Tick or untick the Icons Only option and see what happens.
- If this does not work, click Menu > Setup > Choose Panel to reinstall Lxpanel.
Remember that the size of window buttons in the panel depends on how many windows you have opened and how wide is your screen. In a 1024x768 screen resolution, many windows opened at a time will automatically cause to compact window buttons accordingly. Tooltips are always present to display the title of the windows unless disabled manually.

Thanks Vic, that did the trick
For bonus points you could tell me how to configure tint so that maximised windows don't cover the task bar (or whatever I was using a taskbar) but only if you know from the top of your head, I'm sticking with LXpanel for now anyway so I don't want to inconvenience you. Thanks again.

Right now I don't know about Tint2, but Openbox Window Manager Config (see Desktop menu) does have an option to set desktop margins. By default, Openbox desktop margins are set to 2 pixels, enough to right-click in any corner and see the Openbox menu. Try setting the top or bottom margin to the height of Tint2 panel.

Hello mikesLr,
There's now a special version for Tahrpup, see the first post or click here:

***EDIT***
Link from Yandex seems to work in some countries but not in others, if you can't download then see the first post for mirrors and additional packages.
See my notes about the pet for Tahrpup here:

Hi vicmz - I'm unsuccessful with the Yandex link above - clicking the "Download" button just starts an endless querying of Yandex, but the download never actually starts. Just me?
Looking forward to another version of my all-time favorite Puppy pet - thanks!

Not just you, it happened to a few others as well. I don't know what happened but now it works, or it does for me. Just to be on the safe side, I made mirrors, see the first post to choose an alternative download site.

Thanks, vicmz - got it! The two new links work fine - but the Yandex link still won't work for me, here (in Michigan, USA).
Off to do some testing...

Desktop icons |
|
I seem to have lost my desktop icons when installing this. Not just by default, or only if I use Openbox. Even if I switch back to JWM. I have no icons.
I get that some people prefer to use the dock instead of icons. But you can disable desktop icons in Rox-filer. I want the option to keep desktop icons, too, the way I had it on Lucid.
EDIT: Figured it out. Yet another program got installed that removed all icons. But it also let me put them back. It's Desksetup.
That menu is just so overpopulated, you don't notice everything that got added. I gave up on finding whatever app changes the cursors, and just fixed manually by changing the "default" symlink in ".icons."

Hi Trlkly,
The program that switches cursor themes is called Pcur, see Menu > Desktop. Yeah, Puppy has many tools so it's always had that overpopulated menu.
