Quake One / Quakespasm 0.85.4 Pet Download

#1 Post by metalspike »

this pet will place an i486 optimized client for iD softwares quake one called quakespasm into your /usr/local/bin directory. I compiled it with lucid 5.2.8.

also, here is a 8meg archive which has the shareware data for quake and a quakespasm starter script so you can get right into it.

http://www.mediafire.com/?dxpng8jgo061cxk

install the pet, extract the archive then run the script "quakespasm" to play.

if you get hold of the full version, simply replace the shareware id1 folder with the full version id1 folder.

requires basic opengl capabilities.

that's all for now

Installing a game offered by someone completely anonymous and new to the community on a Linux distro that runs as root definitely sounds like a very good idea...

NOT.

I forgot all about this, woah.. I'm not surprised media-fire deleted it, it is unfortunate that it appears the forum has also removed it however, that was the only copy i knew of, now it's with the null void.
If anyone who got it before downloaded it, might as well link it back, maybe i'll do another build but when I cannot say, not that it's that hard to package in puppy.

Works well in Precise. Thanks!

p.s. It's not too hard to find the file online needed to make this shareware version into the full version of Quake. It's called "pak1.pak" (32.7M, it's the same as the windows version). Place this file in /usr/share/games/quakespasm-0.90.0/id1 and all episodes should be available.
