Latest Flashplayer Vulnerabilities -- Newest Patch

#1 Post by mikeslr »

Hi All,

olinm brought my attention to the latest report regarding 15 hijack vulnerabilities found in flashplayer; one of which already had been exploited. http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 485#826485
Thanks, olinm.
A link on the webpage referenced by olinm will take you to Adobe's latest patched flashplayer.
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. As the flashplayer contained in the downloadable tgz is itself 17 Mb, I can't upload it.
IIRC, the technique for installing flashplayer is:
Steps in Red are Edited- See Below
(1) download the tgz and extract it.
(2) Browse to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins and rename libflashplayer.so old_libflashplayer.so
(3) copy/move the libflashplayer.so from the extracted files to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins.
(4) Save >Reboot >test whether new flashplayer works.
(5) When satisfied, delete old_libflashplayer.so.

Edit: According to an email I received from Semme, who knows far more than I do:
(1) It is only necessary to extract libflashplayer.so.
(4) It is only necessary to close and re-open your browser.
(4a) In addition to the above, if you are running a Pup without an Automatic Save to a SaveFile-or-Folder, don't forget to Save,

The flashplayer so obtained seems to work OK in Seamonkey running in Tahrpup.
