I wonder that if anyone know any good weblink or book
that explains linux kernel config in depth?
Don't really wanna know everything about how the kernel works
just how to configure it
Where can I find out about kernel config?
This may help:
http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_books/ ... /ch05.html
Not that I've actually read it...

Hi @Scooby
Here's another source to your thread's question. May, also be of help.
One PUPPY Linux source may be this thread by @StemSee. Although not a tutorial, there may be enough info already published on that thread to meet your needs.

Hello,
A few tips:
Read through your current kernel configuration.
/etc/modules/DOTconfig-x.xx
Remember that for puppy you must apply the AUFS patches to the kernel.
Try to find a Puppy DOTconfig as close to your build as possible and edit it.
Be prepared, compiling a kernel on a single core machine can take many hours.
Good luck!!

it's a little outdated but OK as a start. I can turn away a lot of the pages
with non-useful information (for me that is).
Thanks, that looks great ( and a little overwhelming ) will definitely check this out
I have successfully compiled a kernel before but when asked questions I just answered
module or yes on everything.
Would be nice to know a little about the consequences as well.
To make informed decisions.
Here's some more useful stuff:
edit: corrected link

will leave this one too just in case:

Most recent update 11-28-2013
and kernel 3.12.1
maybe some useful info anyway?
It's based on a concept, or "Gentoo vision", that won't become outdated any time soon. As an example, Funtoo has a wiki page, that is just a link to kernel-seeds. I wouldn't shrug it off.
Here's something, you can shrug off at once - a youtube video tutorial. I find it inspiring, just like the way this guy explains simple stuff. He has about half a dozen kernel compiling videos, I think.
