Hello!

i have working POL with this tuto in PRECISE PUPPY... and now i am trying on TharPup (based on ubuntu 14.04) and I can't install the PlayOnLinux-4.2.4.pet on TahrPup 5.8.4..

i get an error with no description about it

and if i install it from de package manage, when i try to run it, i get:

POL is no supposed to be run as root. Sorry

I don't know., you might have installed two packages (playonlinux.deb playonlinux.pet)
please uninstall the playonlinux on puppy package manager.

upgrade playonlinux-4.2.5.pet

no no, i remove the .pet before try the .deb from PPM...
actually i dont have any POL.

the link of version 4.2.5 dont work for me, can you please check it?

first, download "python-2.6.4+wx.pet" (python-2.6.4.txt) and see if works well.
Code:
# python
Python 2.6.4 (r264:75706, Nov 19 2009, 02:54:25)
[GCC 4.2.2] on linux2
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
>>> import wx
>>> import gtk
>>> import wxversion
>>> exit()

Ok. Now download the POL-009.pet you need for run PlayOnLinux
what is:
Quote:
cabextract-1.4
icoutils-0.30.0
imagemagick-6.8.6
gnupg-1.4.1

Download the wine version you want. (my wine package)

download & install the PlayOnLinux-4.2.5.pet

I have install internet explorer to see that is works well

if you not have menu on the jwm open the text "~/.jwmrc" (right click and open as text)
find the line <Menu label="Fun" icon="games24.png" height="16">
category you add this <Program label="PlayOnLinux" icon="playonlinux.png">playonlinux</Program>

Hi Kost@s & All,

I discussed the successful installation of your PlayOnLinux pet into Carolina-Vanguard here: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=823204#823204

Basically, it required following the instructions you gave, except your first that the python-2.6.4+wx.pet be installed. Rather, under Carolina/Vanguard, the python pets, including the wxPython-2.8.12.1.pet, all available from Carolina-Vanguard's Puppy Package Manager, are used.

Nice job by the way. Thanks for creating it. In many instances PlayOnLinux is of great value for those seeking an easy way to install XP programs.

So I just installed Slacko64 - Puppy 6.3.0 and I was following the instructions from another topic and im clueless about whats going on w/Puppy -_- can anybody help me? Im new to Puppy... So... I cant run playonlinux on my puppy installation... why???
I have a Samsung mini laptop N-150P, and the puppy installation method was full (like any other linux distribution): Slacko64 Puppy 6.3.0

The playonlinux version and the installation procedure its from this post: "How to install playonlinux on the puppy linux" (Yeah, this one)

And if i go to the console (urxvt) i get the following:

#playonlinux
Looking for python... 2.7.5 - traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/share/playonlinux/python/check_python.py", line 1, in <module>
import os, wxversion

The funny thing is that Python 2.7.5 x86_64 its already installed -_-

Do you guys need any other info about it?

You're missing wxpython, open the ppm and type it into the find box.

PostPosted: Sat 11 Mar 2017, 18:18    Post subject: PlayonLinux 'Cannot find convert from ImageMagick'

All night long but finally I found the problem (and the solution).

Playonlinux installed smoothly via PPM. Then it required installation of Imagemagick. No problem here either. However this time I stumped by a "novelty", an error message from Playonlinux:

"Convert not found (install Imagemagick)"

Long story short: It happened 'convert' utility now is called "convert-im6" and clearly Playonlinux couldn't 'find' it :-/

"convert-im6" is in /usr/bin, so I created a symbolic link there called "convert", pointing to "convert-im6" and that's it.

ln -s /usr/bin/convert-im6 /usr/bin/convert

Problem solved Smile

Subject description: Adobe Software Installable

Thanks to labbe5's prodigious searching of the Web for useful applications, there appears to be a good reason to use PlayOnLinux rather than either Wine or Wine-portable. See, http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=980752#980752
