Pretty much a noob here but I would appreciate some help. I need to use some USB hardware and have no clue how to install drivers. Really hooked on Tahrpup 6.0 and if I could get this going, I'd have no use for Windows at all. I need the drivers here or a linux version that works.

Not sure you can access this unless logged in. This driver package will let me use my chip burner to burn 27FSB512 chips. It will also let me hook a cable to datalog my car. I have previously opened the software with Wine and I think its all good. With Windows I can download the drivers, open the window and see an option to "run". That is not there with Puppy. I would think that a driver package is out there that will do what I need I just have no idea where to look or how to get it. Thanks.

There could just be something you are not doing in Wine's setup.

I will try the Wine site. I have opened the program with wine but the drivers may be a problem . Its been a while but last time I tried, the hardware did not work.
It looks to me as though they struggle to get it to work under native Windows let alone under Wine.
Have you tried all four versions?
Have you had it working under Windows with your hardware since that is the first thing you need to do. If it does not "talk" to your machine properly you have no chance of getting it to work under Wine.

Been using it for years with XP. No struggle. I had the program running in Wine with Puppy 5.6 but not the hardware. Been using Tahrpup 6.0 since it came out and just recently thought about trying again so I started this thread, hoping to get some info, first. I'd bet the chip burner is common enough (probably with a different brand name) that people are using it with Linux for other applications than what I do. These chips have been used for a lot of things for a lot of years.
Have you had it running under XP with the exact hardware you have now?
That includes EVERY piece of attached equipment that is present when you are trying it with Puppy.
The reason is that IRQs and addresses can change and will obviously affect its working.

Yes. Same cables, same program. If I switch hard drives I can even try the same computer. The current laptop is not cooperating when I try to download Wine to Puppy 6.0. I may go back to 5.6 or 5.7. I had no problem with Wine on one of those. Cant remember which. Go ahead and be critical. I thought you referring to the USB cables and chip burner. I have 3 laptops and I have used the software/hardware on 2 of them with XP, no problems at all. Not sure why I am having trouble installing Wine with Puppy 6.0.

I download it with quickpet. It does not set an icon or show up in the menu. If I do a file search I find it but it wont open.It says it installs but a window pops up and says it has no menu entry.
