Dave, with PM closed, extract this user.js to >> /root/.moonchild productions/pale moon/*.default, then go try Google.

If nogo, copy'n paste the string you get from here and include the PM version you're running.

"Update Browser" message

#62 Post by davec51 »

Nope. Here's the UA output:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:24.0) Gecko/20140618 Firefox/24.0
The Palemoon version is 24.7.1 (x86).

I do appreciate your help. If I were a CEO of a large tech company I'd offer you a cushy job, but I'm not.

Gimme your pup and a Google page where this happens. Is there any reason you're still running 24.x?

OK, me thinks I can't run the latest on 528.. lib issues as I recall.

Their previous release, 25.0.2 appears to run fine and doesn't throw an outdated message.

Do you have any extensions installed?

Know how to export bookmarks?

I didn't either with that version. Either a bug or a lib..

Oh, and.. 25.1 DOES run.

More on Palemoon and Google

#66 Post by davec51 »

More information you requested:
The only extension I have is Colorful Tabs.
I don't know how to export bookmarks.
I installed Palemoon from this thread. I didn't know there were later versions.

I don't like their latest --bloated. 25.0.2 was still pretty quick.

Hey Phil, I gotta run.. If you can straighten Dave out, please do so.

I've changed user agent in Palemoon for other reasons, and the capability is built in without using an add-on. It allows you to set the user agent for any particular domain if it's giving you problems. Here's one for google.com:

Type "about:config" (no quotes) in the address bar (if you get a warning, tell it you'll be careful)

Right-click anywhere on the page that comes up, then choose "New" then "String" in the right-click menu

For "Preference Name" enter "general.useragent.override.google.com" (no quotes)

For "String Value" enter "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/31.0 (Pale Moon)" (no quotes)

If you then type "useragent" in the search bar at the top of the about:config page, you should see your new setting for google.com, along with several others.

Try google sites after that. Google.com sites should see your browser as Firefox 31. For other domains, repeat the steps using another domain in place of google in the preference name. Or change the version number for Firefox in the string value.

Hi Dave, to export bookmarks click on Bookmarks - Organize Bookmarks - Import and Backup - Export Bookmarks to HTML.

Adblock Plus forked in Palemoon

#70 Post by vicmz »

Palemoon is incompatible with AdBlock Plus since version 25. This extension was forked as Adblock Latitude for Palemoon:

https://addons.palemoon.org/extensions/ ... -latitude/

However, ABL features EasyList only. The other lists, Easy Privacy (block tracking), AdBlock Warning Removal (block 'please disable AdBlock' messages) and Fanboy's Social Blocking (block social media buttons) are not included, they must be added manually.

1. Install addon from the webpage linked above. If you have AdBlock Plus or Adblock Edge installed, uninstall it first (more information on the webpage).
2. Open the Addons Manager (Tools > Add-ons).
3. In the extensions list, click the 'Preferences' button of Adblock Latitude.
4. Click the 'Filter Preferences' button.
5. Click the 'Add filter subscription' button in the top right corner of the window, and choose 'Add a different subscription'.
6. Fill the text boxes with the information required, then click 'Add subscription'. For example adding Easy Privacy:

Subscription title: Easy Privacy
Filter list location: http://easylist-msie.adblockplus.org/easyprivacy.tpl

7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for other lists if you wish to add them:

Subscription title: Fanboy's Social Blocking List
Filter list location: https://easylist-downloads.adblockplus. ... social.txt

Subscription title: AdBlock Warning Removal List
Filter list location: https://easylist-downloads.adblockplus. ... ilters.txt

i installed it as a firefox add on in 25.02 and it seems to be working fine. flashblock as well.

is there some impending horror i should be looking out for?

edit: it blocks the adds but doesn't give you an icon.

is there any discernible advantage to 25.02? i still have a 24.7 on one of my machines and don't see much point in upgrading. (i upgraded to get rid of a google nag message but still get it. and now i've lost an icon.)

Fixing Palemoon and Google Mail

Thanks. All this is getting perhaps more complicated than is necessary, just to avoid a single click.

Then I'd move up to the 25-O-2 build.. not that many more clicks.

Goodbye to this Thread

#75 Post by davec51 »

Thanks once more, Semme and you others who participated. This all seems not to be the effort spent on it. I still favor Palemoon over other browsers and will continue to use it with my Puppy.

Nothing about You Tube . and downloading pets... strange.
Downloading from quickpet is ok.
Record : xvidcap 1.1.7
Cut, audio comments : avidemux
Some effects with openshot
that's nice
Good job !
Palemoon update in quickpet would be a solution ?
