USBHDD installation issue Puppy Linux Derivate MACIS

#1 Post by soldiaz »

Hey everybody,

I am trying to get MACIS to work on a USBHDD. The author gave this hint
##English
If you boot Macis from hard drive or U-disk, you must ensure the filenames are lowercase.
Correct example: initrd.lz, vmlinuz, macis_536.sfs
Wrong case: initrd.LZ, VMLINUZ, macis_536.SFS

You don't worry about it if you boot from CD.
I always get this error:

Loading vmlinuz
Could not find ramdisk Image initrd.gz

I checked wether the issue might deal with lowe-/uppercase. As I can see, all is lowercase on the usbhdd...

Any help appreciated to fix this...

Kind regards Soldiaz

Hi soldiaz,

The author seems to be using initrd.lz rather than initrd.gz.

Change your bootloader config file (syslinux.cfg?) to point at initrd.lz

Lili live usb Creator was my tool used to install Macis, succesffully.

#One or more words that identify this distribution:
DISTRO_NAME='Macis Puppy'
#A three-digit numeric value, version number of this distribution:
DISTRO_VERSION=536
#A two-digit numeric value, minor-version number of this distribution:
DISTRO_MINOR_VERSION=00
#The distro whose binary packages were used to build this distribution:
DISTRO_BINARY_COMPAT='ubuntu'
#Prefix for some filenames: exs: macissave.2fs, macis-536.sfs
DISTRO_FILE_PREFIX='macis'
#The version of the distro whose binary packages were used to build this distro:
DISTRO_COMPAT_VERSION='natty'
#16-byte alpha-numeric ID-string appended to vmlinuz, macis_536.sfs, zl201101.sfs:
DISTRO_IDSTRING='m201201078244511'
#Puppy default filenames...
#for the partition, path and actual files loaded, see PUPSFS and ZDRV in /etc/rc.d/PUPSTATE
DISTRO_PUPPYSFS='macis_536.sfs'
DISTRO_ZDRVSFS='zl201101.sfs'

Then i remaster it with 3.0.25 5racy 5.3) to get wireless connection in my garden with my antenna
