Hi all! I've tried to build driver using shinobar's getnvidia-1.0.pet, devx_precise 5.7.1.sfs, kernel_src-3.9.11.-patched.sfs (from http://bkhome.org/sources/kernel-3.9.11/) and NVIDIA-Linux-x86-96.43.23-pkg1.run but had no luck. I'm getting the following log report:

Code:
nvidia-installer log file '/var/log/nvidia-installer.log'
creation time: Thu Oct  2 19:37:00 2014
installer version: 1.0.7

PATH:
/bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11R7/bin:/root/my-applications/bin:/usr/games:/usr/java/jre1.7.0_67/bin

Using built-in stream user interface
-> License accepted by command line option.
-> Installing NVIDIA driver version 96.43.23.
-> Not probing for precompiled kernel interfaces.
-> Performing CC sanity check with CC="cc".
ERROR: The kernel header file
       '/lib/modules/3.9.11/build/include/linux/version.h' does not exist.  The
most likely reason for this is that the kernel source files in
       '/lib/modules/3.9.11/build' have not been configured.

Also, I tried with shinobar's nvidia-glx--96.43.23.-k3.2.48.pet/.sfs but there's info from NVIDIA X Server saying "The NVIDIA X driver is found, but lacking the module for the current kernel 3.9.11."
I'd like to know is there a different solution for this? Thanx!

P.S. CatDude, I'm sorry. I've made a total mess om this. I think Flash is going to ban my a#$ for good!

Dude, do you want a driver or not Question
If the answer is Yes, then i will attempt to build one for you,
otherwise it will save me pissing about digging out a suitable machine on which to build it.

CatDude

P.S
if the answer is Yes, then please repost the details so that i know what you need
.

Very Happy Hello,
You need the kernel source headers and devx both installed
to compile a driver.
And it must be compiled against a specific kernel.
I have few gforce drivers built against Puppy kernels.
The PPM has a few as well I think.

Hi

OK, after quite some time (and issues) i eventually have a package for you to test.

Before attempting to use this package, please make a backup of your savefile.
Use entirely at your own risk !

Glxgears output:
Code:
# glxgears
Running synchronized to the vertical refresh.  The framerate should be
approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate.
8260 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1649.363 FPS
8040 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1604.461 FPS
8340 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1665.722 FPS
8200 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1638.439 FPS
8360 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1669.007 FPS
8180 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1634.547 FPS

Hope it works for you.
CatDude

EDIT:
Before installing the dotpet, make sure that the nouveau driver is nowhere to be seen.
Open a console/terminal and run lsmod
if you see mention of it do rmmod nouveau

That depends.

That would be very helpful as my crystal ball is broken.

I need to know exactly which Puppy version you are using,
preferably a link to the ISO image you downloaded.

Could you also provide details on your graphics card too.
