Fatdog700 and Samsung Printer Issue (Solved)

#1 Post by vvvora »

Hello, in prior Fatdog 600 series, my Samsung ML-1710 printer had worked fine. The CUPS add printer had not worked for me directly. What I remember, there was a samsung printer package in the package manager that I had to install.

Could the samsung printer package from the prior fatdog be added to gslapt?

Btw, the error I get in cups now is something about "ppm2spl2" not existing. Again, I think this is a solved problem, and the old fatdog had the package that worked. VVV

Go here and install PPET.

Go to the Fatdog 600 Contributors' Repo and get the Samsung printer driver: samsung_print_fd600-uld.1.0.21.pet

Install the driver using PPET. You can drag-and-drop it.

Set up your printer in CUPS as usual.

Please report back with the results.

Samsung Printer - Works!

#4 Post by vvvora »

Thanks for the quick reply. This worked perfectly.

1. More Samsung printers (I guess those that are spl2) were included in CUPS after install of the ppet and the samsung printer package.
2. I was able to add this printer in CUPS and print test page and a test PDF.

It works!!

Thanks!
